How should African-Americans protest? When Colin Kapernick keeled in quiet protest he was vilified. When Rev. Martin Luther King led non-violent protests he was vilified and eventually killed. So, now certain African-Americans are protesting in a violent way. ( A few of the protesters are White). And they are vilified for it. So, it seems they are vilified no matter what they do.
The same way the rest of us do. Get a job and go to work. Weird suggestion I know, but its worth trying eh?
It may technically be a small percentage of blacks committing these crimes, but it's a very large percentage of the overall crime. Also, while it might be a small percentage of blacks, it's still a MUCH higher percentage than the percent of bad cops....when those two numbers are compared....that is my point.
Kappy was a moron who insulted those who fought for his privileged life. I doubt there is one city in America (virtually) that does not have an "MLK" street. Rioting only reinforces the violent stereotype.
No. When African-American men are being killed by the police and going scot free, that is NOT the way African-Americans should protest. Try again.
Kapernick insulted nobody. He knelt to protest the killing of unarmed African-American men. He wasn't being disruptive or violent. What does a city having a MLK street have to do with the fact that he was a non-violent man who was killed by White Supremacists?
Well it's good advice, works well for 10's of millions of people of all skin tones. Lead a horse to water....well, you know. The thing.
Many have spilled blood and died for that flag, it's an insult. He was paid millions to play a game. Dude would not know "Opression" if it was a Mack truck. Go ahead, riot. See what it gets them
Thank you all for the conversation. Have a nice evening. Remember: Practice social distancing. Wear a mask when out in public. Wash your hands frequently. Bye.
Funny, when 25% of black people riot in a city, it's considered a small portion, but when one out of half a million cops kneeled on George Floyd's head, every police department in the world was corrupt.
Sounds like they stomped a lot of peoples' rights, arresting everyone in an age group to just get the gang leaders. I wonder where all the people left behind went. That was effective at cleaning up a neighborhood, but leaves big questions on morality and rule of law. What year was that? In 2020, there's a lot of talk about neighborhood gentrification in downtown neighborhoods. Cities compete to bring in a major corporation promising hundreds or thousands of medium- to high-paying jobs and don't hire out of the community, but they bring in qualified and experienced employees from other states. The city population grows faster than housing, and these new residents start picking up properties at the fringe of poor neighborhoods, renovate, then start chipping away more and more into the older established ethnic neighborhoods. Property values and rents increase and the people who used to live in the older minority communities get pushed out to less expensive suburbs. Rather than razing an entire neighborhood and rebuilding, the older affordable neighborhoods disappear "inch by inch", a few properties at a time. When these corporations are looking for places to build a new plant or office complex, I can see them considering housing and crime rates. Cities like Chicago, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Seattle, etc...are likely to lose out in the short- and long-term to safer cities.
Chief among the root causes, are the individuals engaged in the rioting and looting who believe they are entitled to break the law whenever they see fit, because they were not raised to either obey or respect the law, or their fellow human beings.
Slavery has existed since the inception of the human species. Why should one group be held to any higher of a moral standard of review than every other group that practiced slavery equally?
Wonder if they'll riot over the 21 killed at a cookout this past weekend in DC? That's more than double the amount of weaponless african americans killed by cops in all of 2019.
Every race on this planet has been enslaved by other races and by their own people. For some reason most realize how great it is to be free and made sure others were no longer enslaved, yet one race seems to uses it as an excuse in America.
The fact that people like you cannot figure out why that is insulting is why the rift is growing in America. The rioters are not fixing things, they are making it worse. There are plenty of ways to protest that don't involve violence. There are so many protests that occur in this country, and almost none of them get violent. Almost none. The rioters are just making people who were supportive of your cause resentful and fearful. Be smart and find a better way, or it WILL fail.
News flash, people of all races get killed by police when they act like morons. Hell, in the latest cop shooting of a white guy, the dude was literally getting on the ground and the cop shot him in the back. Your supposed racism you see everywhere is just a projection. Nobody gives a damn about race, at least until they are responsible for burning down cities.
That makes about as much sense as you do. So why should a rapist, murderer or anyone else who commits crimes against another human being be held to any kind of moral standard or review.
They don't care. They have "their truth". Its not "the truth". We are looking at whats happening and its effects, and they are but superimposed on top is the narrative that must be advanced.
