There ya go folks. That is the care and respect both establishment parties have for the American people.

I fully support the Progressive wing of the Dem party which I firmly believe should separate itself from the corporate owned Dems as soon as it possibly can. Thankfully, they are steadily unseating the old guard.

Washington is broken on so many levels. Doesn't help much that the entire House is once again up for election. Every two years.

They took no action to address the small business needs.

There will be massive failures and shuttered businesses.

With 80% of the workforce working for small business, expect massive unemployment when they return.

As far apart as Mnuchin and Chuck/Nancy are now (since McConnell and the Senate are FULLY out of the loop on this one, which I once found mind-boggling but don't any more), I don't see a huge problem with the recess, as there will be no voting on anything anytime soon....

The House voted on their bill in May and they will come back and vote for whatever Nancy approves of during any recess negotiations..

The Senate hasn't voted on much of anything in 2020 as it stands..

You think I'm kidding? Here's the full 2020 voting record of my Senator Mark Warner this year

    upload_2020-8-14_7-33-42.png

    3 Nominations
    2 Impeachment votes (Failed)
    2 COVID votes (from March)
    2 Administration spanks (Failed)
    1 Renamed NAFTA

That's a pitiful amount of votes for a US Senator in 2/3 of a year...

My senators are damn lucky that they're not up for election this year because I would vote against both of them on principle alone just because they are incumbents.

My house rep is retiring, and of course according to the commercials the seven candidates are all terrible people but I made my choice way early on, months ago so it's been easy.

Whats crazy is that they need to vote on these MASSIVE bills, when really all they need to do is vote on a few things at a time.

    At least do SOMETHING.

I get it, though. No since in the Democrat party doing anything Trump wants with the election coming up.

I don’t think any elected office should be longer than 2 years and I wish that applied to SCOTUS as well.
But this is more an American problem.

Progressives problem is that young progressives grow up. Then they want to keep their money.

Uh huh. Watch the violent reaction if Pelosi’s 120 million is suddenly taxed in a more progressive tax policy. Somehow it won’t apply to her.

Perhaps they did respect the American people. I would have viewed this multi trillion boondoggle as economic stupidity since the treasury doesn't have the money. We have to stop this, your greed aside.

Can we get them to take the rest of the year off?

I covered that WAY back in Post #4...

Do SOMETHING involves bringing bills up for vote on the floor...

Can you tell us who is responsible for that on the Senate floor??

Once Pelosi adjourned the house and they left town, there is no sense in the senate hanging 'round.

The House has a bill passed...

    The Senate does not...

    Lame!

    SNIP
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that if some kind of deal is reached while the Senate is on recess, members will return to Washington, D.C. for a vote.

Of course, he himself has no intention of working on that "deal"

Hardly. She left town without a deal. If there is no conference committee there's not going to be a final bill.

The House has passed a bill

    The Senate has not

Nancy is not required to make a deal, although she's willing to.... Her cards are on the table...

But if Mnuchin wants to talk turkey, he has her number....

Nobody has ever been required to make a deal -- except if you get drafted into the military.

It is the progressives that are preventing anything from getting done.

    Horse Puckey....

Here's the problem, and everybody in Washington knows it

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...ows-isnt-saving-trump-hes-sabotaging-country/

A very telling line about a man who was in public office for 7+ years

    SNIP
Asked by reporters Tuesday whether Meadows could close a deal, Sen. Richard C. Shelby (R-Ala.), chairman of the Appropriations Committee, was unconvinced: “I don’t know. This is his first big deal. We’ll see.”
    ENDSNIP

Maybe with Nancy out of town, Munchkin can call her without this podunk tool hanging around, and they can do again what they did in March...

You can talk a deal on the phone. You can only close a deal in person at the table.

The dems are the ones that put the Congress into recess instead of staying to work on the issues. I guess raising money is more important than helping the poor yet again.

I don't believe that's actually a requirement, but they aren't even at step 1 yet so not sure why anybody would worry about step 2.

BTW, does anybody really know if Nancy is home in Cali?? During past recesses, I've seen her interviewed live in the Capitol...

The dems goal is to inflict as much pain on working Americans as they right up to election day.

Of course, because everybody knows it takes all 538 members to negotiate a deal with the White House...

And with term limits! There should be NO recess during events like this. You bastards work until you come to a settlement even if that means you work 24/7.

This "Let them eat cake" mentality needs to stop and everyone of these bastards should be bared from ever holding office again!
