Face masks are a proven way to slow the spread of the virus. Additionally, they are a great alternative to heavy-handed lowdown measures. I'd also require that people wear face shields and wear face masks for any outdoor activity.

I would say Kamala should follow a strict bag over head policy....

That's what you need Kelly Ann Conway to do.

Remember last month (or was it the month before) when leftist media was saying that face masks are racist because it makes Blacks look like they're criminals? Guess they have to drop that talking point now.

I'm totally guilty of that. I cleaned out my car today there were 5 masks in it from the past couple of weeks. I just grab one at random most times. then rotate a new one in but the old ones still get mixed up with the new after the first wearing.

So, Biden is advocating what most mayors are already doing. I guess this is what they meant by leading from behind.

I tend to agree, extrapolations were used early on during this virus, then they seemed to disappear after we had gathered 50x the data.

With that said the data has a lot of holes in it due to inconsistencies in reporting.

Yes 100% good point . I just typed that in a previous post, the data is inconsistent but it's still a useful guide, we just shouldn't pencil it in as truth nor should we assume its grossly inaccurate.

Honestly yes, its common sense. I think I suggested that a couple weeks ago, recommend and expect 40 states to follow quickly, the other 10 will have pressure to cooperate, you maybe end up with 48.

What's being ignored is the immune system discussion. Priority public discussion about how to strengthen yourself against the inevitable, whether it be covid or the flu or whatever else.

Were talking about underlying conditions post mortem, and only in very general terms. why not before and in tremendous detail.

They've had hundreds of thousands of patients, there has to be an absolutely massive data pool, and really havent told us dick about the specific underlying conditions, specifically who should isolate based on statistics.

how we can reduce our odds if a severe reaction? just like the mask reduces risk, so does strengthening your body to fight this successfully.

Yes, he has the authority to request all governors Initiate a mask mandate in their states.

Either there’s a massive hearing problem in the United States or people are listening to sources of information that are purposely misleading them.

Like the OP’s link. It’s a redirect to the source of the misinformation—FoxNews.

The story leaves out Biden’s full statement for the purpose of misleading it’s audience. The President did the same reacting to the announcement.

So what do we get? The purposely misinformed spreading misinformation. The point I don’t understand is the purposely misinformed—the abused—don’t appear to give a damn they’ve been abused and go back for more.

    It’s sad and disheartening.

So since you're saying that all Biden wants to do differently is just request that governors require masks, why doesn't he do that right now? He doesn't need to be President to make an unenforceable request like that.

I agree, it's a daily issue, I corrected myself in a later post.

That's what I suggested earlier. Although the feds aren't recommending not to wear them either. I'm wearing one anyway.

As someone mentioned, Biden can make that plea anytime, even from his basement, has he already done so?

Maybe I missed it but I'll give him a thumbs-up in advance just in case.

    Interesting.

There certainly is major medical science going on.

One catch is that the vulnerabilities being found aren't easy or even possible for an individual to fix.

Beyond that, there is also major study of what the effects of COVID are on the human body. There is't even any clear or complete answer to THAT, as it is complex and takes a lot of time.

I do think this is an interesting angle though.

I'd bet that smoking is a pretty bad idea right now, though I haven't seen any breakout comparing death rates of smokers v. nonsmokers.

Of course, healing from smoking takes significant time, and those who smoke seem pretty much unwilling to care about their health in the first place.

I've heard a bit about vitamin D, some stuff about vitamin C and zinc . Green tea too. But those were podcasts, should be evening news hammering us with tips not me finding it randomly.

Sure beats "wear a mask, 1200 died today"

I'd love to hear quality discussions on how/why the 12,000 that didnt die that day were successful.

I don't see evidence that you found anything of proven value.

Masks and social distancing/isolation have proven value. And, regardless of nostrums we may choose to believe for various reasons, those are the primary methods of reducing the spread of communicable disease when vaccines are not available.

That is, masks and social distancing have been the proven methods for a long, long time. And, they are proven effective today as well.

Zinc shortens flu according to some studies. Does it shorten COVID19? I haven't seen anything about that from medical science, but I've seen a number of studies in progress or proposed.

It's not about stopping the spread it's about controlling people.

That's the silliest, most pointless claim on this thread.

Yes, but I think that's the problem.

    Let me start over.

Have you heard of anything that you can do to be more resistant to severe symptoms on mainstream media besides masks and social distancing?

"After the 4 yea(r)s nonstop making EO or memorandums that they lack the authority to do..." Heck of a statement. The problem is that it was the Obama Administration that was enacting laws by EO, and they weren't in the last 4 years.

SCOTUS did say the Government could preserve public order and safety, did they specify which government? The Constitution does not give any Federal Agency the right to regulate health issues. Since that protection is not spelled out, it falls under the 10th Amendment, and therefore resides with the States. Not with the Federal Government. Therefore, the President/VP have no authority to enact a mandatory mask requirement. The most they can do, is advise the Governors, and hope the enact the mandate on their own.

It is strange how the DNC wavers on what is, and is not, a state right.
