I Say Enough Is Enough

I was thinking just yesterday the USA is heading for a serious struggle. We have a major civil uprising in our cities (BLM, Antifa, militant blacks, militant democrats, militant whites, militant republicans, trouble makers, liberals - and the MSM making excuses for them). And along with that the covid-19 virus that is shutting down our economy. How much longer can we continue to send millions of people $400 a month? How much longer can the government demand businesses be closed? How much longer can landlords not receive rent from their tenants? What are the long term effects of closing schools? How much longer can a bank not receive mortgage payments? We need to open up the country, get back to work, or we are going to end up in a severe depression that could last for years. And the depression could come on strong in just a couple of days. We'll have to take our chances with the virus. I hope the republicans join with Trump in this coming election and make a sweep. We need to send a signal that "enough is enough". Trump is right.

The tragic irony of this selfish line of thinking is that things would be much better now, and the economy more able to open up, if trump and his worshippers had put on their masks, practiced social distancing and acted like responsible people instead of selfish idiots when it all began.

 

Which in the end means SQUAT! At some point economic reality will take over. The historic "Spanish Flu" killed over 500,000 Americans and over 50 million worldwide, this in a time with NO effective treatments and NO antibiotics to treat secondary infections. Most notably there wasn't the screeching, hand-ringing apocalyptical hysteria we're seeing today. Is collapsing the economy, with the accompanying food shortages, utility, transportation and social disruptions really going to "save" us? Is making a "cure" that's vastly worse than the disease the way to go? In the end we have to do what humans have always done, PERSEVERE. Some WILL die, but many more WILL live. Had our ancestors been possessed with todays attitudes this discussion would be moot, we'd still be living in caves.

 

We need to stop acting like this is something we can keep throwing short term patches at. It will take at least 2 full years before we can get a grasp on the permanency of the damage done. Just reopening doors does not mean those doors are staying open. We are going to see business owners close enough to retirement just hang it up rather than take the risk of dying. Half our restaurants will shutter for good and we won't know how consumers will react to fewer restaurants or whether new ones will open. The deaths/cases are only the tip of the iceberg.

Most of those people were old and dying. They didn't die of COVID, they died of underlying causes. They call them COVID deaths to inflate the numbers.

 

For the most part you are correct. My city has spent decades crawling out of the economic hole create by corporate raiding, NAFTA/GATT/WTO and the war on tobacco. This hasn't been as bad for us as it has for some people because we have already been smacked to the ground time after time after time over the last 30-40 years. A lot of places are about to learn what that is like. I personally think most of America needs to reframe their thinking from how do we restart the good times and start thinking about how the hell are we going to manage the fall. We are not at the bottom yet. Unfortunately, it looks like we aren't even close to the bottom yet.

Wasn't it Pelosi who on February 23 was asking people to come to Chinatown as she claimed her state had everything under control spreading the virus to thousands

Wasn't it Cuomo on that same day telling everyone to ride the subways and go to concerts that his state had it under control in the exact city that has the worst death ratio of the entire country.

Isn't it 23 Democrat Mayors and Governors that are allowing millions to protest and spread the virus while refusing to allow their police to put these riots down.

Everyone dies. You assume democrats don't get old or that as they get older they migrate to cities and become republican due to their age. No, these are grandma and grandpa liberal democrats callously killed by liberal Democrat governors who sent COVID positive patients into their assisted living facilities and nursing homes to kill them so they could have a higher death count, panic the people into shutting down the economy in order to hurt President Trump's reelection.
