Theres lots of finger pointing and Trump bashing when it comes to the number of Covid deaths in America but if you take a look inward "we have met the enemy and it is us. "
First off we are well fed to a fault with the highest obesity and associated diabetes rates in the world.
Secondly we are victims of our own success with an overall excellent healthcare system that keeps very sick people alive for a very long time.
Last but not least we have an independent streak in this country. People on both sides of the political spectrum say screw you, I do what I want. From the far right refusing to wear mask to the far left student population refusing to give up the right to party and the extreme left marching in crowds and looting and burning which leads to fights with police and incarceration. Hard to social distance in jail.
Add all three of these American truths together and is it any wonder we have had such a problem with the spread of covid?

Thanks to the numerous lobbies that prevent action from the government and poor education Americans receive on nutrition

Even though we decline in both level of care and life expectancy each year vs other first world nations... do, continue...

That is not independence, that is arrogance, a lack of personal responsibility and a general disregard for others. At least kids can say they are young and ignorant of the repercussions.

No, it isn’t. It should surprise exactly zero people.
This nation will not survive if we keep this up.

It’s just fact. We have a very old population that is being kept alive with our very efficient healthcare system .

“The U.S. population is aging. Today, there are more than 46 million older adults age 65 and older living in the U.S.; by 2050, that number is expected to grow to almost 90 million.

All the BS in the world isn't going to get this off Trump's back.

You won't stop regurgitating BS, but as I've said before, when things get real; tolerance of BS goes right out the window.

Not including the Cult, of course.

Wouldn't what wasn't BS be shorter?

In controversy after controversy the kook Right denies science. It's stupid beyond belief, wildly irresponsible, and doesn't need to be refuted ten thousand times.

People drive with wild abandon thinking the air bag will always save them. People live with wild abandon or vegetate heavy thinking there is a pill for any and all ailments that will always save them no matter how many comorbidities they have achieved.

But people can have too much omentum and too little momentum.

    I don't need to.

    Science has dealt with it.

“First off we are well fed to a fault with the highest obesity and associated diabetes rates in the world.”

We’ve already had a second wave partially due to Trump’s poor leadership.

First, his refusal to wear a mask......A good leader leads by example.

Second, he disparaged/brushed off his own re-opening guidelines, and played the role of a Liberator and Freedom fighter......just to appease his base.

Also, if he had a mouth to criticize several Dem Governors who he believed “Have gone too far”, how come he didn’t use his mouth when several states were re-opening at a Positivity Rate well above the recommended 5%?

In addition, considering the fact many Republican Governors/Republican local officials had to implement/re-implement “Big government” measures in an effort to contain their uncontrolled outbreaks, what does that tells you?

My assessment; Mainly due to his narcissistic personality disorder, Trump is certainly not a bad economic/social times President, and obviously not a Winston Churchill who NEVER downplayed his enemies.

Thus, in times of crisis, poor leadership, and that scares me.

So all you can do is bash Trump. No comment on the OP itself and the points about America and Americans it brought up.

    I also praised Trump on several issues, examples;

    1. Nafta
    2. Insist that our Allies spend more on defence
    3. U.S./China Stage 1 Agreement

    YOUR TURN

    When Obama was POTUS;

    a. Did you bash him? Examples:
    b. Did you praise him? Examples
    c. Or all you did was bashing him

    Be honest

You are still dodging points brought up in the OP that you chose to ignore and instead blame Trump

An “overall excellent healthcare system” doesn’t lead to a man in Washington state getting a million dollar medical bill for his Covid recovery. Covid has proved quite the opposite. Our healthcare system is ill-equipped and dismal.

That “independent streak” is called the will to think freely. What we have, without a doubt, gotten wrong in this pandemic, is trying to tell people what to do. We got it wrong locking everything down, we have it wrong with the mask mandates and the distancing. Pushing this only leads to more resistance. We fought the British in order to have the ability to think freely.

Given 90% of the population has fully recovered from Covid, it’s worth saying that if you get Covid, it’s unlikely to be a death sentence. Before or after you recover.

Our healthcare system has led to a huge population of very old very sick people still above ground that would be feeding worms in many other countries.

Bad news for Democrats - covid-19 infection rates and deaths have been declining for months and will likely trend downward into the November election. Democrats are of course hopeful that a second wave of infections and deaths as schools reopen and business returns to normal so that they can score political points off dead Americans. I saw one liberal gentleman on tv hopefully estimating covid-19 deaths would surpass 400,000 deaths by Dec 31st when asked about what Joe Biden would do about corporate taxes.

We're 26th of 35 OECD countries for life expectancy.

    Oooops...

Which is an average age of death and has nothing to do with how we keep very old very sick people a!ive in this country. Are you intellectually capable of discerning the difference? If not just say so and I'll put it in fifth grade level terms for you.

Deaths have plateaued at around ONE THOUSAND per day.

Yes infections have dropped from the HORRIFIC number we were getting a month ago...but then schools are opening so that will change shortly
