Yes, but you seem to think that the law which was applied against this pregnant woman was religiously motivated. It's wasn't. All the more reason why it is ridiculous to think that we are governed by a bunch of religious nuts!
I believe Covid is being used to attack conservative politics including religions. The only right that seems to be untouchable here is the right to peaceful assembly whether or not it is actually peaceful.
That is absolutely nuts, arrested for a facebook post promoting an event? even if it's illegal this was still way over the top Orwellian stuff right here. It should of been a fine at most, not agents of the state barging into your home scaring the family. Soo glad i live in america, i thought it was supposed to be a first world democracy down there.
Because it started as a penal colony of some sort for the Brits, the citizens today are treated sometimes as inmates in a prison. The only brave ones like Julian Assange are abandoned by the inmates back on the island, led by their government.
I hope Australians learn their lesson, they assume politicians always have their best interests at heart and will never lean authoritarian in Australia. If you give state of emergency powers to politicians they will use it, be careful who you vote for. Here's the latest saga Coronavirus Australia live: Woman dragged from car by cops at police checkpoint https://www.news.com.au/world/coron...ive-coverage/83611a9336634b811a4f83f4b29a1432
Seeing as how they're constitution seems to pretty flexible on the matter im afraid they will go down that road most likely. People there need to start getting angry and demanding change before scenes like this become too commonplace.
This, which was ONE person has resulted in outrage and an official review Sorry there was it more to it
Yep! There is an essential difference here between us and America - we can see the broader picture and as much as we HATE HATE HATE the lockdowns and restrictions we know they will be temporary and we know they will be walked back
I'm Wow, that's pretty heavy-handed! With the bold bit above, may I ask which would be the recommended party to vote for or to avoid so that emergency powers are not introduced? (States and federally)
Australia can do whatever it sees fit being a sovereign nation and all, i just think throwing a pregnant woman in jail over a facebook page when a some kind of civil infraction would do perfectly fine just seems unbecoming of a 1st world democracy. But i do see the value in the sort of collectivist ethos they follow when it comes to this, not like they have alot of usable land to flee to if things go off the rails.
I haven't followed up but that is extremely unlikely. Our police and judicial systems veer towards compassion and I'll bet she gets a modest fine and slap on wrist. They wanted to send a firm message though (same with that bodybuilder yuppy ). We're almost through this and don't want conspiratorial nutjobs derailing the hard work and patience of millions.
