From what I noticed the Russian ships are surrounding Cyprus - maybe to fend off a Turkish invasion? There have been a lot of threats by Turkey, and many Russians live on Cyprus. One Russian ship is also stationed between the island of Crete and Libya.

"...This is the first time such a large military formation has been observed here, which raises doubts as to whether Russia intends to launch a special military operation against the jihadists in Syria using its naval missile systems.

It is not clear whether this accumulation of Russian warships in the eastern Mediterranean is related to Turkey's aggression against Greece and Cyprus, or whether it is directed against US activities in Syria or against Islamic terrorism.

The published photo, as noted by the Lebanese Al-Masdar, shows that the 15 Russian warships and submarines are located between Cyprus and Syria, along with some ships north of Egypt and another near the central part of the Mediterranean..."

Read many Russians live on Cyprus as many Russians have their fortunes in Cypriot banks. Wouldn't be surprised if Putin wasn't one of them.

Except Vladimir Putin doesn't have a fortune - as anyone who knows him would tell you, and Moscow is now changing its laws on off shore accounts such as Cyprus.

I would expect the presence of Russian warships in the region are more a sign of Moscow supporting Ankara, not the other way around.

After all. Erdogen and Putin managed to push the Americans almost completely out of Syria.

And, there is no real indication that the volume of cash leaving Russia for Cypriot banks has been curtailed at all.

It is is, it’s bad news for Trump, whose real estate empire rests on laundered Russian money.

The estimates of his fortune vary from $40 billion to $200 billion. Apparently the estimators have failed to check with people who know him.

There were 15 Russki warships that actually work....didn't need to be towed? Wow!

    Russia:

Is in Syria legally. Putin was asked by Assad to help protect Syria, and to keep it from being torn apart by Washington the way they did Yugoslavia. ISIS and Al Queda was not only supported by the US, but also by Britain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Qatar and Jordan.

    The US:

Is in Syria illegally and has stolen the oil wells in the Deir ezzor region under the pretense they are protecting the wells from ISIS. That's why ISIS is still there. In reality they want to keep the Syrian people from having the money to rebuild their lives and country.

    Turkey:

Is in Syria so it can hold on to the Idlib area and repopulate it with Turcomans. ISIS is being used for their dirty work of killing and ethnically cleansing the indigenous population. The Deir ezzor where the US is, and Islib where Turkey is, are the only regions where ISIS and Al Queda still exist.

The new law hasn't come into affect yet.

It came from the Greekpronews and they probably took it from some Lebanese paper. That's where the photo comes from. It's a google translation. It upsets me though that they will never post links. Personally I consider it newsworthy.

You have to admit though, that it is magical the way news never shows up in the MSM. Actually I should say real news. As for fake news, well can one expect otherwise.

TomFitz - Don't think Russia will support Ankara. They are traditional enemies. Turkey hasn't shown itself to be any different than the way it was in the past. They still lie. I think Russia is just trying to avoid a war with Turkey over Idlib.

The Russian's are very secretive, but the results should speak for themselves. As an example, Turkey was in Libya full force in support of the Muslim Brotherhood Saraj. They were there with every military means at their disposal, as well as with the usual ISIS terrorists from Idlib to do the ethnic cleansing and dirty work.

I think Putin made some kind of agreement with Macron, because the Russian para military Wagner are the ones guarding the oil wells. Had Turkey's Saraj taken Sirte, a major war would have broken out between Turkey and Egypt. No one wants to see the important oil exporting port in Turkey's hands. Well the city is now safe and secure in Haftar's hands. Is it Russia's doing? I think so!

I think they have one in Syria, as for another, I don't know. Do they? I know they would like one in Greece and it would stop Turkey's war mongering, but I'm sure the EU and Nato wouldn't allow it..

Notice it's all speculation. Not one reference and fact other than the word of the criminal Browder who is wanted in Russia for tax evasion.
You forget that you also read that Russia bombed 6 hospitals in Syria. Five of them turned out to be non existent and the sixth is not damaged at all. Now when was that? Oh that's right, the time Washington wanted to cover up the story about us bombing a hospital in Afghanistan. Nothing like deceiving the American people is there?

The naval drills will take place this month in the eastern Mediterranean Sea from Sept. 8-22 and Sept. 17-25. Russian warships are not in the waters contested between Turkey and Greece.

If I recall, Russia has been given rights by Assad to help develop the oil and gas off the Syrian coast. That would account for the Russian ships and live fire to protect the area. If Turkey believes the illegally occupied Eastern part of Cyprus belongs to them, it means they will be searching in those waters for oil and gas - even though the Cypriot government has given the rights to some of the plots to Italy and France. When Italy tried to search a few years back, Turkey threatened them and they ran off. France though is fuming.

The problem here is that Washington can't see the forest for the tress.Turkey is a really, really big problem, but Washington can't see it. All they see is: Russia, Russia, Russia.

Yeah, I see the trees, but where's the forest?
