Healthcare propelled Dems in 2018, and secured the House with gains in the Senate. Given Trump hasn’t gone anywhere on the issue of healthcare over the past three years—with exception of rolling back the Affordable Care Act, healthcare is Trumps weakness. Aside from the fact Covid 19 has shown how bad of a healthcare system the US has in terms of individual cost and preparedness. Rolling back the ACA is not a healthcare solution, it doesn’t solve problems for those without healthcare and those with. The progressive stance of lowering drug costs, thanks and credit to be given to Bernie, finally hit Trumps desk.

Healthcare helps Biden in a couple of ways. First off, the issue toes nicely into the pandemic. Which will resonate with older, more susceptible voters. Trumps key audience. Secondly, it exploits it a key weakness of Trumps. Healthcare has literally been on the sidelines in Trumps agenda. You can’t have a good economy if you don’t have good healthcare. People don’t shop when they’re sick, and are less likely to work—even remotely. You can’t talk about the economy if you’re not going to do something constructive about healthcare. They literally intertwine with one another.

I totally agree with you. This pandemic has underscored how effed up our healthcare system is in this country and Trump is only wanting to take away what we already do have. With the amount of crap that Trump keeps throwing out into the ether, it's easy for this point to get buried, but the bright side is that most polls show the American public trusts Biden more so than Trump on this issue and dealing with the pandemic.

Biden does address healthcare. Maybe he could do so more comprehensively, and maybe he will. I agree with him on reversing Trump's damage and strengthening the ACA.

Trump will be issuing his HC Plan - and it will have some kind of "Socialized Medicine" attached to it - Stealing that Platform away.

Blue has fallen - failed in its efforts to get the HC boat floating - Obamacare was lipstick on a pig - did nothing to address the systemic issues that led to a 3.5 Trillion dollar spend in 2017.

Blue is now the party of Neocon's and regime change wars ... Blue's environmental plan is terrible for the Environment ..

    Almost a little Orwellian - isn't it !? ?! !?

Such a terrible thing, Trump not making people buy a product they don't want. Shame!

You misunderstand - the people do want the product..and Trump will be making them buy it ... but if done properly - which he will not be able to do - the cost would be half.

'Half' is still orders of magnitude more than I pay. I don't want it. 'The people' who do shouldn't be involving the people who dont.

Ask not what your country can do for you - but what you can do for your country. And the country needs affordable healthcare. The only way that can actually happens is if everyone participates. Did you think that the mandatory participation proposed by Obama was just to punish those who didn't want healthcare? The only way to bring down costs (if still using insurance companies and private hospitals) is for EVERYONE to participate. Same thing with prescription drugs. One big customer can negotiate lower prices.

Trump is completely oblivious to the fact that the first thing in people's minds right now is healthcare.

The corporate media and the wingnut media might not be paying that much attention to it, but people are.

Practicing across state lines and drug re-importation to lower cost.

    Not bad in my book

You sure about that? France has a lower infant mortality rate than America. Patients in Indonesia can receive all medical records via the swipe of a card at a machine like a ATM that doesn’t cost a fortune. Ambulance rides in Germany cost as little as $50. Where we go wrong with healthcare is when we look at it as a business, not a charity. Once we put profits before patients, the entire system went downhill from there. Something is seriously wrong with the person who tries to justify a hospital could give a man in Washington a million dollar bill for Covid treatment.

Compared to other countries, our system isn’t “pretty damn good.” It isn’t even “damn good.”

He’s had three years to issue his HC plan, it’s obviously not a top priority for him. Doing it now raises red flags, why? It arouses suspicions that the plan is being pushed through for reelection purposes. Will we be able to thank Bernie (again) fir beginning the discussion on socialized medicine if that is a part of the plan?

Not really. Republicans haven’t proposed anything but to dismantle Obamacare. No alternative whatsoever.

They also have, pre Covid, a far lower immigration rate, especially in terms of illegal immigration. And far more wide spread use of abortifacients. Most aren't even making replacement rate. But nice of you to dredge out the apples and oranges before breakfast.

~ There is no alternative as of yet. I don't think either party knows what to do.
