I know what you have said and others on this board have fallacious said in claiming there is a national popular vote and none of your graphs claiming what people wants refutes the fact THERE IS NO NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE, and there won't be one because not enough states will pass an amendment to create one. Yes people fallacious believe we should have one which only proves they do not know why the founding fathers set up the system we have and are taught in schools that we are a Democracy and that the States virtually do not exist. And yes I know all about the National Popular Vote Compact. Do you know that states cannot enter into compacts without Congressional approval? And the first time a state like California has to give it's electoral votes to a candidate who lost the state, watch how fast they pull out before the EC votes.

Do you understand why it's unlikely Republicans will win the House if Trump loses the popular vote?

No I do not. People in either House are elected by the citizens of the States and if they win that State's Electors they most likely will vote Republican for Congress as well. That has nothing at all to do with a national popular vote.

Electoral vote determines more than the popular vote. That's a clear point. Simple as that.

    Scenario:
    You're running for President.
You can win a majority of one or the other, but not both:
    1: Electoral vote
    2: Popular vote
    Which do you choose?

I'm doing two unusual things this election.

    1. I'm voting for a democrat
    2. I'm voting for a republican

I rarely vote for a main party, but since I am compelled to vote Biden, to get the clown out, I also need to balance it with a vote for a red Congress Creature.

Americans do best when one party doesn't have full control of two branches.

Did I say it would? No. But I did make the point there is such a thing as the "popular vote," something a KnowZip on the forum disputed.

They virtually never truly control Congress because you need 60 votes in the Senate for most legislation. We have a political structure better suited to early 19th Century than for 2020.

You're making stuff up. Students are given information about how the Electoral College works, and how the FFs decided on the way we elect a President and Vice President.

It will not happen. The demographics are wrong. If Trump wins the popular vote he will only increase in the electoral college.

The make up of the House more closely mirrors the popular vote, although it is impacted by gerrymandering.

Right now, Trump is losing by a large enough percentage he'll lose in the Electoral College, too.

Trump seems willing to risk public acceptance of the vaccine by having it approved before November. Polls suggest only half of Americans will take it, not enough to build herd immunity.

How much can the country stand without coming unglued?

Amending the Constitution is more difficult, requiring typically a supermajority.

My wife blessed me to bet up to 5K on Biden winning the 2020 General Election. No matter what happens regarding the Vote Count as reported by MSM sources on Election Day and any day thereafter, I expect major blowback (as in collective grumbling) from disgruntled Trump supporters skeptical of the vote count.
In 2020, Trump won 30 states; Hillary won 20, plus DC. Right now, Biden stands to win 19 of those 20, plus DC. NH (4 EVs looks like a battleground). Meanwhile, Trump has a real battle going on in 6 of the 30.... FL (29), PA(20), MI(16), NC(15), AZ(11) and WI10).

The horizon looks very good for the Anti-Trumper Movement! Make America Great Again! Dump Trump in 2020!

And when California sees it's EC votes going to a Trump like candidate who lost in their state and they pull out what then? How do you enforce it? And you do know that states cannot enter into compacts with each other without Congressional approval.

So what does it say about this when these states are trying to do an end run around the Constitution. Do you teach your students this is how the government should operate, these anti-constitutional schemes because some states are mad Trump won?

What a world politics gives us. We may be seeing a vaccine and a way out of this Coronavirus mess and Democrats are praying for failure and will call it such even should it work. How much can we stand indeed.
Democrats are working overtime trying to unglue the country.

She won 21 of them and Trump 30 of them, which one are you talking about. BTW there was no national vote.

Are you projecting? Is it something the Liar-in-Chief would do?

Trump has so politicized the vaccine only about half of Americans say they'll take it. If that holds, we may never reach herd immunity.
