Replacing RBG. Justice Roberts has decided he likes being loved by the legal press-rather than having any intellectual consistency. So he is a joker when it comes to gun rights. One more pro gun voice-replacing the Hon. Associate Justice Ginsburg, will help solidify Heller and McDonald if Joe/Blow manages to win

This would be a good choice. Lots of people think the supreme court should have justices who went to law schools other than Yale, Harvard, Stanford or Columbia. This lady went to Notre Dame-a very good law school but she graduated FIRST in her class. She also has written some very good originalist dissents supporting the second amendment.

Trump may not be replacing anybody unless he buckles down and focuses his campaign.

Replacing Ginsberg may be the best thing he can do for his campaign. Can you imagine Biden putting out a list of candidates from which to pick? He'll make their first considerations be race and gender. That's after he mispronounces their names on his leader (teleprompter) and then reads "end quote".

Piff. He can nominate someone tomorrow.
At that point, McConnell has until the end of the year - more than three months - to get him/her confirmed.

CDC WISQARS actually shows just a 3.4% increase in the gun suicide rate from 2015 to 2016, the latest year noted in your "info". The most current data in WISQARS, through 2018, shows an annual increase of 1.8% in the gun suicide rate. If we compare the increase in the gun suicide rate from 1999 to 2018, it's an increase of 18%.

What is interesting is that the overall suicide rate increased over that time period by 36%, indicating that gun suicide rate increase significantly trails that of other means of suicide. The hanging/suffocation suicide rate increased 111% from 1999 to 2018, with almost 14,000 victims in 2018.

Likewise, CDC WISQARS shows only a 10% increase in the gun homicide rate from 2015 to 2016, so your "annual increase" data is incorrect. The gun homicide rate in 2018 was lower than the gun homicide rate in 2006.

Nevertheless, during the time 1999-2016, about 572,000 lives were lost to guns in USA.

Are you implying that guns can be dangerous?

    From your link.

" In her dissent, Barrett argued that while the government has a legitimate interest in denying gun possession to felons convicted of violent crimes, there is no evidence that denying guns to nonviolent felons promotes this interest, and that the law violates the Second Amendment.

Another republican who does not understand what "shall not be infringed" means.

He’s already made the nomination; it’s now in the hands of the Legislature to confirm or deny. Not much left for Trump to do.
Likely, bar some major turn, she’s in regardless of the election... a legacy Trump leaves regardless of a second term.

The Democrats do not understand that 3rd justice is more imnportant than a 2nd term.

    Do you have a point?

As long as we are remembering those who died before their time, lets also remember the 3,450,000 (that's millions not hundred thousands) who died during that same time period from other mostly preventable health issues: 2,250,000 from lung cancer and 1,200,000 from diabetes. Interesting note: lung cancer and diabetes are mostly self-inflicted. Should we consider them suicides?!?!

Numbers based on CDC stats: https://www.cdc.gov/

Not counting anything, but making a logical prediction. Even a Pelosy move to try to get support to invoke the 25th Amendment would be extremely unlikely to derail a confirmation proceeding.

You would be surprised by the number of Senators who will say eff it and either not return to Washington or return just to have a tantrum when The Donald costs them their seat.

Once again, no one has lost their life to guns.

People have lost their lives due to the mishandling or abuse of guns but inanimate objects are incapable of doing anything without a human's manipulation.

When used sensibly, guns not only save lives but they can put food on your table and provide for recreational entertainment.

I disagree. Guns are as deadly as Fentanyl. People use both to harm themselves.

A subjective assertion that you cannot demonstrate empirically, one only supported by the selective cherry picking of facts to support your implicit narrative.
Should all LE and the military be disarmed?

People use a lot of things to harm themselves, most of them considered legal. Among the most deadly is unrestricted access to food.
