No, but I was arrested in 1984 for simple possession of 2.2 grams of weed. I was charged with a felony and could have gone to prison, but by the mid-eighties we were starting to come to our senses. The judge joked about the amount, referencing something from Caddyshack which I don't remember (yeah, all a big joke), and I plead to a reduced charge, some convoluted application of the interstate commerce laws which was classified as a gross misdemeanor.

This state was (and is) a big cowboy state, which by the way, is the source of part of my user name. Vegas is solid Democrat territory, but it's not exactly a bastion of liberalism. Reno has turned blue but still remains conservative/moderate. The rural areas are solid Trump. Nevada was the "Okie from Muskogee" of states when I moved here.

Marijuana possession was punished harshly until the mid-eighties. Sales and large amounts were harshly punished much later than that. The irony of this attitude was the legality of 24 hr. drinking gambling and prostitutes. Then the cowboys met Willie. Lol.

It has nothing to do with saintliness and everything to do with your friend scoffing the law. His crime (and yours) could have easily been avoided by simply not doing what he did, but instead he chose to ignore the consequences, and now we’re supposed to feel sorry for him because it’s not really a crime anymore? Hey, I almost got a kickass deal on a computer monitor on Labor Day but my paycheck didn’t arrive until a few days after that sale ended. You snooze, you lose, pal.

Well then, I think you're wrong. If we're going to go full fascist, there will be no tolerance for lawbreaking of any kind. If you break the speed limit you lose your voting "rights." Snooze you lose. Get caught with a broken taillight, having knowingly taken your car onto the road, you lose you vote. Sorry. Why should I feel sorry for you?

The law was wrong, obviously. Your authoritarian tendencies noted. No thanks, I'll keep my freedom. Move to Mexico if you want to live in a police state.

Weed is still a Schedule 1 drug, bro. Just because you don’t like the law doesn’t necessarily make it wrong. Just remember that you would be a felon now too if that judge hadn’t taken pity on you.

Honestly, coming from you and from what I've seen of your posts... You've managed to surprise me if this is what you truly believe.

So you're advancing two ideas here both of which are repugnant, that those that flagrantly and frequently violated the laws of the land ought to get a hand in making them, and that only black people are felons. Interesting, racism, arrogance, and politics before country all combined into one assinine assertion.

Weed was MISCLASSIFIED as a schedule 1 drug. It should be an OTC drug.

Now that's funny coming from a guy that wants to put the government de facto if not de jure in charge of the energy sector and health care...

64% of Floridians voted to restore the right of felons to vote. But as is the case on any number of issues nationally, the Repub controlled legislature in FL...............having no doubt what the majority of voters supported..............decided to subvert democracy.

That is how Repubs are holding on to power. By suppressing the votes of likely Dem voters. It's been happening for years across the country by various means. It's happening this year by way of mail-in ballots. It will keep happening unless or until they are removed from power.

We stand on the cusp of a prez, who was not elected by a majority of Americans, having a SC nominee confirmed by the Senate, that does not represent the views of a majority of Americans.

Roughly 7 in 10 Americans do not want Roe overturned. A vast majority want stricter gun control. A vast majority recognize the truth of the science behind man made climate change. A vast majority favor a path to citizenship for qualified immigrants.

Is it any wonder why Repubs feel the need to suppress votes to retain power?

With all the "peaceful protestors" having been arrested the democrat base is shrinking.

So no former felon should never be allowed to own a gun?

You needed a "kick ass deal" to cover the cost of a monitor??

You need to apply yourself and find a better job

So you are saying that NO Republicans will "resort to mass riots and destruction" when your wannabe Fascist-in-Chief LOSES the election?

Obviously you have forgotten them rioting in FL in 2000 and now in Michigan. Furthermore there is EVIDENCE that the rioting, looting and violence at the BLM protests has ALL been INSTIGATED by white nationalists.

Voting is the alternative to government by violence. If you take away people's ability to vote, you give them the right to oppose the government by violence. It's that simple.

A $500 4K gaming monitor on sale for $300? Maybe if you had a job then you would understand the value of a deal like that.

As did the Founders of the United States of America...

Some people understand that resistance to legal tyranny is heroism. You just don't happen to be one of them.
You mean, he erroneously thought he had a right to pursuit of happiness as long as he violated no one else's rights?
You mean, the same way people who helped slaves escape to Canada, or hid Jews from the Nazis shouldn't have broken the law?
You mean, the same way people who helped slaves escape to Canada or hid Jews from the Nazis should not have been spared torture and execution for doing so?
Despicable beyond the rich resources of the English language to express.

I hardly equate the actions of a lowlife drug dealer to someone saving the life of another. Your analogies are sorely misplaced and inappropriate toward the context of that conversation. Do you often compare podiatry to neurosurgery as well?

Good question. Considering the unimaginable abuses of his power he got away with when he still had re-election in mind, the future is unknown. Maybe he'll give Putin the Medal of Freedom. Maybe he'll have Biden arrested for opposing him. What ever he decides to do we can be sure no Republican will dare stand in his way.
