I won't try to pretend that there's not a great deal of urgency in what Trump is doing, Te. On my worst day, I don't think I'm that hypocritical!

The central 'pillar' in the Democrats' angst over Trump filling the vacancy is that Obama's nominee wasn't confirmed in 2016... right?

The important, enormous difference in the two situations is that Obama was on his way OUT of office, with no legal possibility of remaining as president, Te! But, Trump has the very real intention and legal potential of remaining in office for another entire term! I know you are capable of understanding the difference....

    Yes.

Now, let's stop bickering and look at the actual nominee's credentials, shall we?

Ah yes, you've already said it's unimportant :couple_inlove:

There is an even GREATER potential that the Fascist-in-Chief is going to be FIRED by We the People.

The URGENCY you mention is because of the INTERNAL POLLS that indicate that the GOP is going to take a DRUBBING in November.

They are DESPERATE to push this through BEFORE the election because afterwards they will be even LESS legitimate than they are already.

If President Trump resigns effective immediately, denounce Conservatism and assign his entire fortune to DNC, would you still call him names? :D

Oh another one of your projections, they're hilarious and scary. Now Trump is a Fascist because he's doing his constitutional duty JUST LIKE OBAMA DID before the 2016 election. You guys are pissed at Ruth, not Trump and it's hilarious watching. I think this is great though, nominate a strong Women that has the education, the experience, the drive and has overcome all obstacles and watch the lefties trash her. The hypocrisy is so rich it won't stir, I guess it's all BLM now instead of the party of women's rights. I doubt she get's nominated in time for the election and I bet the middle of the road suburban women vote suddenly swings towards Trump too. They're not to keen on women getting trashed just because she's catholic and a Republican. Dem's have made their air bed and Trump pulled the plug.

The selfless act of humanity? Too late for the Anointed One and dick Clinton to resign, but let's wait till they perform any of these selfless acts of humanity you do not expect of Trump and donate their fortunes to DNC, and then you can blame Trump for being selfish! :roflol:

I have no doubt whatsoever that all of the TYRANTS and DICTATORS of the past and present had/have their loyal sycophants who will defend them regardless of their INIQUITIES and CRIMES against humanity.

Where did I 'find' it...? Maybe a better question would be, "How were you not aware of it...?" 8)

Well, 'passion' is always a part of these discussions, but... Trump is the legitimate president (like him or not), the Senate is the only legislative body involved in anything having to do with the confirmation of Supreme Court Justices (like it or not), and, Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff, and all their little friends in the House can stamp their feet, wave their fists in the air, and screech like banshees -- it won't make any difference in the outcome.

Truth? Poor, old Ginsburg set this whole thing up herself! If she and her liberal buddies wanted to be sure of getting another judge nominated for the Supreme Court for her slot, she should have resigned shortly after "Messiah" Obama became president!

For her health reasons alone, the poor, old woman should have retired probably TWENTY YEARS AGO. But, you know how headstrong some liberals can be when then they think their 'grasp' will never be exceeded by their 'reach'.... SELF-delusion is always the most difficult kind to overcome, and some (like Ginsburg) never understand that!

Push-come-to-shove: what we on the Right want to avoid more than anything (ANYTHING) else is having radical Democrats put more creatures like Sotomayor or Kagan on the Court. Do some research on both of them, and if you're honest with yourself at all, you'll see exactly what I mean.

What I am aware of is it's comical lack of relevance, a superficiality not helped by the source you're too embarrassed to mention.

They actually aren't obligated to hold a hearing, although they will. They could just take a "yes" or "no" vote and set a record for confirmation.

Trump plans to announce his choice on Saturday, and Romney says he's on board with Trump selecting the nominee due to precedent.

Well, looks like it will be Amy Barrett. Good to hear that "his" people will like her. I thought he was president of ALL Americans, but he doesn't seem to think so. Good to hear, now we can stop the accusations that non Trump voters don't consider him their president.

What makes you think Coney Barrett? He isn't announcing his choice until Saturday. I'm still rooting for Lagoa.

    Well, there is this:

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/22/politics/amy-coney-barrett-trump-supreme-court/index.html

"Judge Amy Coney Barrett has emerged as President Donald Trump's overwhelming favorite to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, according to several people familiar with the deliberations, who say the President's view was solidified during a lengthy meeting at the White House on Monday.

Trump has not finalized his decision, and with days to go until he announces his pick on Saturday, his thinking could change.
The White House is currently working to schedule a meeting between Trump and Judge Barbara Lagoa while he's in the Miami area Friday, two sources tell CNN
    ."
