I'm not sure why he was held at gunpoint. Will more people try to sue police? Is Benjamin Crump 'Black America's Attorney General':

I suspect suing police will become more popular in the coming months. Potentially big bucks made off mistakes and or negligence. Many are using 1st amendment rights to expose police malfeance and subsequently win lawsuits. Search "1st amendment audits" on YouTube for examples.

Filing a lawsuit is much better than working the front desk.

This is a viable alternative to madness and mayhem. If the PD does you wrong and you can prove it, sue them and hold them accountable. And at that, the cost of the suit is ten times that of proper police training so it will be financially incentive to get better.

The guy immediately began to resist and act aggressive against the police officer. This idiots actions are EXACTLY what gets shots fired. When a policeman orders you to do something in such a situation YOU DO IT. He has NO grounds for a lawsuit.

At some point sovereign immunity needs to be waived by judges and individual officer held responsible for their actions on an individual basis thereby letting the taxpayer off the hook.

    Care to explain this:

"Our initial review indicates that this incident was not handled in accordance with the professionalism and respectful behavior that we, and the public, have for our officers," spokesman Detective Greg Bacon said in a statement about the incident

I'm dark skinned Portuguese, all I did was follow their instructions and I'm still alive. The example I gave wasn't the first time. Back in the 1980's I was in the all night Laundromat. Two guys with a knife came up to me on the sidewalk when I was carrying my laundry to the car and demanded my wallet and car keys. I pulled my firearm and pointed it at the one closest to me and told him if he wanted to live to throw his knife in the storm drain, he complied. They then turned and ran off. I went back in to get the rest of my laundry. Someone in the bar across the street called the cops telling them I was robbing two guys, they saw my gun but not the knife. Two cops came in the back door and one in the front all with guns out. I put my hands up and leaned against the dryers as instructed. I told them I was armed, I have a permit to carry. The cop that frisked me took my nickle plated firearm and just threw it on the concrete floor. As angry as I was, I went with the program till they let me go after checking my permit the storm drain and the knife was there. I told the cop that threw my gun on the floor that his department would pay to fix any damage. I had the gun completely refinished at S&W and sent the PD the bill. When they didn't respond, I filed a lawsuit in small claims. They just paid me before the court date. The firearm came back looking better than it was to begin with. The cop must have had other complaints as he was assigned to the school police.

The specious notion of Qualified Immunity given to police officers by SCOTUS decades ago means that police officers cannot be sued for malfeasance. The citizen has no legal recourse to sue police officers.

This sounds like a headline grabbing effort.

Cops are out of control because they are not punished for stupid acts.

Cops also lie in their written reports which should be a criminal offense for a perpetrator cop and his associates to lie in police reports.

Cops arbitrarily detain people without cause at gunpoint and subject them to unjustified searches.

if cops do bad things to people, they should be able to be sued - if you or I pointed a gun at an innocent employee, we would probably be arrested

And they are very few and dealt with. When we see the rioters we see huge mobs of criminals, who tend to get away with whatever they want to do.

all the people want is good cops to protect us from bad cops, not just stand by and watch the bad cops commit their crimes

and when a cop does commit crime, they do the time for their crimes

bad cops are a small percent, and bad cops make good cops look bad, so even good cops should want this

Crump is the lawyer that pimped out the corpse of Trayvon Martin for big cash settlements.

"Black lives matter?" Not to Crump. He only cares about the green!

don't care about the lawyers past cases, the question is, was this citizen mistreated by the cop or not - nothing else matters

seems the department admits it was not handled appropriately

"The department’s initial assessment was that the incident was not handled with the professionalism or respectfulness that is expected of Tempe Police Officers," she said."

Positive yes they do in such a situation where there is an active crime and person threatening with a gun. The officer was doing his job ina dangerous situation. He doesn't know who that person is, if they are having a gun pointed at them from behind the door, are an accomplice helping the suspect or whatever. The hotel worker immediately went into the oppressed black man routine ARGUING with the officer and falsely claiming he did not have to obey the LAWFUL orders of the police officer. This is exactly how shootings happen. Why didn't he just cooperate with the police officer who was there putting his life on the line to protect humans everyone else in the hotel?

They don't want the town burned down.

Why didn't the guy just cooperate with the officer to begin with?
