Growing Disapproval of Protests Against Police

Polls, schmolls, sample size, yadda yadda..... I've never put a lot of faith in polls, but I still find them interesting. So for the sake of conversation, here's an interesting one

According to this poll support for the protests is dropping. Black support has dropped from 81% in June to 63% in September. White support has dropped from 53% to 34%. Overall support has dropped from 54% to 39%.

People are also starting to recognize the so-called "peaceful protests" aren't really that peaceful after all. (Even as CNN and MSNBC have both been mocked for news coverage claiming the protests are "mostly peaceful" while fires burn behind them, LOL.) In June only 20% of whites thought the protests were mostly violent, in September 33% of whites recognize the violence. In June only 7% of blacks thought the protests were mostly violent, in September 10% of blacks see the violence. In June 44% of blacks thought the protests were mostly peaceful, now that number has dropped to 35%.

Support for the police also seems to be increasing.

As credible (or not) as polls might be, I still find this one encouraging.

Also, this poll was done before the Breanna Taylor grand jury verdict. I suspect those protests will only turn people off even more regarding protests.

I think they ought to keep acting like a bunch of fools.....and hopefully that will destroy the democrat party for life.

Approval is dropping, but whether the protests have been peaceful or violent isn't a subjective opinion. Studies have shown the protests to be overwhelmingly peaceful.

 

Well these protestors need to distance themselves fromt the ones that are causing some form of violence. These protests are more grass roots than organized and because others have abused the situation, unless they get more organized and distant from those others, their approval will continue to drop.

Agreed, but from what I've seen, much if not most of the violence happens at night, after many of the protesters have gone home. There's not a whole lot more they can do.

 

Yep, the left's attempt to spread chaos in attempts to impact the election and blame Trump have backfired.

 

Those polls do indicate people are growing tired of the continuation, and the greater want it stopped and removed.

"Peaceful" can be subjective.

Some idiots think this fiery scene is "mostly peaceful".

Others are sick of things like vandalism, looting, destruction of monuments, blocked roadways, and having mobs of people standing around yelling profanities and chanting idiotic slogans, etc., even though the left would surely argue these things aren't technically "violent". You can split hairs about whether fiery protests are "mostly peaceful", but most people are getting sick of this sh*t and are starting to see through the "mostly peaceful" lie.

Indeed. Trump looked a no hoper, not least because of his dealing of Covid 19 and making a fool of himself so often - suggesting people drink bleach/disinfectant and what not. There were very definite peaceful protests going on. Trump went for the old 'tough on law' and after the refusal of the army, orderd and sent the Feds to Portland who acted in a violent way and stirred things up.

Interesting article here comparing support for BLM with support for equal rights in the 6o's. It also points out there that how much support there was, depended to a great degree on how politicians and the media fed the population. The one difference between then and now they see is that this time there has always been a majority of American Adults supporting them.

The protestors want to abolish police, but when they become the victim they scream for help from the police. If it weren't so dangerous it would be comical.

 

And I agree with that myself. I'm just saying that the impression of violence isn't necessarily based on the reality.
