Fighting broke out along the border of Nagorno Karabakh, a territory between Armenia and Azerbaijan which has been in a state of war since they gained their independence in the 90's from the USSR. The population is mostly Armenian, but its landlocked inside of Azeri territory.

If this fighting follows the usual pattern of expansionist nations, then it stands to reason that the Azeri targets would be the Armenian civilians while the Armenians would respond by targeting the militants to stop the killing. So any claims of Azeri civilian casualties to me would be questionable, while Armenian civilian casualties would be true to form..

No doubt Erdogan, has his own 'messianic' finger in this. He said he will not leave Azerbiajan to fight alone, and will give them Turkey's support. If it's anything like the support he gave Saraj in Libya, it means military arms with ISIS terrorists thrown in to do the genocide and dirty work.

This is why Azerbiazan said they will not mobilize. They know they're not going to be attacked unless attacked first - which Armenia will not do. So why go to war when you have the terrorists doing the ethnic cleansing for you?

The call to arms comes shortly after intense fighting broke out along the border of Nagorno-Karabakh, a disputed territory wedged between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Both sides reported civilian casualties and blamed each other for starting hostilities that involved artillery shelling as well as the use of combat aircraft and heavy armor.

While populated and administered by ethnic Armenians, Baku considers the region as part of Azerbaijan. Both sides fought a war in the 1990s, triggered by Nagorno-Karabakh’s decision to cede from Azerbaijan following the dissolution of the USSR. Earlier on Sunday, the breakaway region also declared martial law and mobilized its male population.

Of course Russia is trying to stop the fighting between them since it has peaceful relations with both nations. I believe Russia has a military agreement with Armenia. I sense that this is going to become another Libya and Syria situation, and that Russia will be supporting the Armenians indirectly, while Turkey will be supporting Azerbazian directly with arms and with ISIS terrorists from Idlib to do the killings and ethnic cleansing.

Seems like Erdogan is over extending his aggressiveness, but that's not what he says:

“Armenia once again showed that it is the biggest threat to peace and tranquility in the region,”
And here I thought Greece was the biggest threat to peace? Oh that's right, Greece is the biggest threat only in the Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean, not the Caucasus. Like with Greece though, there are the subtle threats in reference to the past genocide of Christians:

‘Defend your future’: Erdogan calls on Armenians to stand against govt as clashes with Azerbaijan resume

We need to cut Turkey from NATO and let them settle their **** with Russia without making it a global affair. What we don't need is a bunch more proxy wars.

We're not cutting Turkey from Nato, nor are we or the EU willing to sanction them. So Erdogan like Hitler before him knows he can do whatever he wants. The difference is that Erdogan's opposition in Turkey is even more militant and aggressive than he is, so it's a Turkish national problem, not Megalomaniac Ottoman one.

The worse situation is in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean. The EU is willing to give up it's own boundaries concerning the Greek islands and territorial waters, to kow tow to Turkey. All this because the US and EU can't see the real threat to world peace because all they can see is Russia.

The West is living in la-la land. Putin even blasted the press once for not warning the people of what was going on, and how the world is sleep walking into WWIII. But he's not the only one. All the experts on Russia have been saying the same thing, but instead of heeding them, Washington has been discarding and denigrating them.

Actually WWIII started with Syria in 2012, but it's been getting hotter and hotter.

Anyway I was right. According to the Greek news, Turkish and ISIS terrorists have now joined the Azeris. The fighting is very serious, so there is no way that Russia will not get involved. I assume it will be indirectly the way it was in the Donbass, with volunteers rather than with its own troops.

Then we need to leave NATO.

Its far less likely they'll start WW3 without the US 'at their back'. If Russia starts it, I'm sure NATO'd let us help em :machinegun:

If NATO starts it with Russia...

This was the message from Nagorno Karabakh to Azerbiajan:

Early morning, #Azerbaijan unleashed military offensive along LoC targeting also civilian stlmnts, incld. capital #Stepanakert. #Artsakh defense acts with all capacities 2 ensure security of its population. Azerbaijan bears full responsibility for consequences of its aggression.

    Here is Armenia's response:

When you mess around with Armenia, you're messing around with Russia, so they should have expected a slam dunk. It's how they work.

According to the Duran, the Syrian militants were given 2,000 a month by Turkey to fight in Azerbiazan, which they felt was too tempting to say no - something they now regret. So where's the money coming from? Probably Germany as a bribe to keep them out of Europe.

Another proxy war between Russia and Turkey, you know I'm not big on prophecies because they are often misinterpreted, but it's interesting that the Boer prophet said the Turk will do three things that will start WW3... honestly I count far more than three but this is very bad news. Putin is right about vvv

Very interesting prophecy because it conforms to what some Greek Saints have said - and they have been very accurate. They said that when Erdogan falls, a war will start with Greece. The new Turkish leader will then close the straits to Russia, and that will be the end of Turkey.

Some European nations will fight, but none will return home. Istanbul will become` a blood bath and all Christians should leave. Turkey will then become Kurdistan with the exception of the lands that belonged to the Greeks and Armenians.

About 6 months after that part of the war, Russia will advance to Jerusalem and then Armageddon. It will be a major war - probably nuclear. Not all nations though will be in that war, but the ones that will be in it will be destroyed.

Word of advice: Stay out of it.:oldman:

Turkey seems to be all over the place lately flexing its muscles. They are officially present in Syria, Cyprus and Iraq, heavily involved in Libyan conflict, aggressive with Greece, and now looking to get its hand dirty in this conflict (Be it a lot of these places are at their doorstep.) This suck considering they are in NATO, they are openly aggressive, arguably one of the most directly aggressive countries on Earth at the moment.

Not sure how this conflict will escalate, but I hope the US does not get pulled into this if it gets to hot. Right now Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey will probably be directly involved in one facet or another. This is also on Iran's border, so it worries me the US would get dragged in if for some reason Iran gets involved picking and helping one side.

Erdogan couldn't find oil or gas no matter how hard they searched, so he realized that if they didn't assert themselves and become aggressive, Turkey will cease to exist - and he was right. Turkey's population is about 70 million but over 20 million of them are Kurds. There are also about 20 million Alevi's who are probably descendants of the Pontian Greeks and Crypto Christians.

Anyway Erdogan's being overly aggressive. I noticed though that he doesn't send his own troops to fight, instead he sends the Syrian militants from Idlib. I doubt that there are any Turkomans with them. He's probably Ethnically cleansing Idlib to change the demographics for Turkey's own benefit.

What are "expansionist nations"? Is that like when Russia takes over part of Ukraine?

Boy are you gullible. You better learn some history. Ukraine never existed, that's why they never had a king. The Greeks named it the edge, because it was the edge of the Russian lands. Ukraine means 'those who live on the edge' in Greek.

As for those in Western Ukraine who stole Lviv and the Polish lands in WWII, they want to kill and wipe out the Russians in the East and South, so they could steal their lands as well. Washington tried to help them in that, but to no avail. They're all starving - except for the oligarchs.

Ukraine = Those who live on the edge.

Your expertise in that whole part of the world is far greater than mine, as I've said many times here.

That said, I'm sure that at some point Vladimir Putin will decide "how it's going to be" -- and that will be that. Russia is the fabled "800-pound gorilla" in that entire region, and Erdogan must surely know that, deep down inside his obviously delusional mind. Or, if he does not know that yet, my guess is that Erdogan will come to know it... shortly!

"Uncle" Vladimir isn't going to let the 'kiddies' tear up the playpen....

I think Erdogan knows it. Turkey fought 16 wars with Russia and lost everyone. Erdogan is goaded though by his nationalist opposition, and he's a pussycat compared to them, so if he falls, who knows what they will do. Anyway the propaganda in Turkey runs wild. A few years back it was all against the Jews. Then it began against the Greeks and now it started against the Russians.

As for Putin, even though Russia has a defense agreement with Armenia, they also have good relations with Azerbiajan and Putin does not want to lose that. So he's doing everything he can to stop the war. Russia's big problem with Turkey is Idlib in Syria. Erdogan promised to leave, but I think he's been ethnically cleansing it and putting in Turkmen so that Turkey can annex it eventually. They're butting heads over it.

I don't think Putin takes to being lied to, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Here's something of interest. According to a Greek source, Turkey, Azerbaizan and Georgia have closed their air space to Russian planes to keep them from assisting Armenia. This is endangering the thousands of Russian soldiers locked in Armenia at a time when Azerbaizan has become very aggressive.

Russia could say the heck with them and fly through with its jets, or it can immediately cancel all EU and American flights through its territory to put pressure on Georgia.

I would not want to be a high-ranking Azerbaijani government official if their army is found to be killing Russian soldiers anytime in the near future. Azerbaijan has a marvelous energy-production business, as we all know, but the importance of oil/gas right now is not overpowering. They had probably better "watch their step".

Parenthetically, does the area of Turkey known as "Western-Armenia" have anything at all to do with this...?

The problem is similar to the Crimea. It has to do with a small part that belonged to Azerbiazan in the Soviet Union, but the majority of the people living there are Armenians so they declared their freedom. Western Armenia I think would be the Eastern part of Turkey that was ethnically cleansed when they declared their independence.

The Armenians lucked out with the Bolshevik revolution, because Russia couldn't help them and they were on their own. In order to kill off the population, the Turks first jailed the Armenian leaders in Istanbul. They then told the people that they wanted peace and if they would hand in their guns they will release the men. Once they handed in their guns they signed their own death warrants.

Oddly enough, the Turks used the same method 100 years before during the Greek revolution when they massacred the people of Chios. In that case it so appalled the Europeans, that the nobility followed Lord Byron into Greece and helped the Greeks gain their independence. It was the beginning of the end of the Ottoman Empire.

The red on the map is where the Armenians lived before being killed off by the Turks. What's unfortunate is that the area the Turks occupied in Syria, seems to be where the Armenians had settled.

There is no way feasible that the Armenians can take Batumi but Armenia spreading its border to the Masali/Lankaran region seems (to me) a foregone conclusion.
