    Someone's not tellin' the truth?

"Fake news", he says. C'mon, he's been hiding his taxes, while at the same time telling he would 'love to release his taxes, but under IRS audit' so "I can't" noting that the IRS doesn't prevent anyone from releasing taxes if they are under audit. Now we can see precisely why he doesn't want anyone to see them, he's either a real loser, or he's lying about it to avoid taxes.

So, this is a developing story.

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/09/27/us/donald-trump-taxes.html

The Times obtained Donald Trump’s tax information extending over more than two decades, revealing struggling properties, vast write-offs, an audit battle and hundreds of millions in debt coming due.

Donald J. Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his first year in the White House, he paid another $750.

He had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.

As the president wages a re-election campaign that polls say he is in danger of losing, his finances are under stress, beset by losses and hundreds of millions of dollars in debt coming due that he has personally guaranteed. Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.

The tax returns that Mr. Trump has long fought to keep private tell a story fundamentally different from the one he has sold to the American public.

[...] ...the records show that he depends more and more on making money from businesses that put him in potential and often direct conflict of interest with his job as president.

Great article and timely too... I would have gone with this headline myself

NY Times: Trump paid $750 in US income taxes in 2016, 2017

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/ny-times-trump-paid-750-214154920.html

Everybody can understand ridiculous numbers like that.

Donald Trump is a tax cheat.... imagine that... Just like Al Capone, body type and all...

Since he gives his salary to charity, he might very will have a lot of paper losses. Trump is fond of LLC's that have carry through taxation so his real estate depreciation could very well offset whatever income he brings in as far as his personal taxes.

I don't think so. But it is amazing after the hundreds of fake claims made and exposed by the NYT, how the left is so gullible.
It's why there isn't anything the NYT could expose that would be taken seriously.

The report is he paid $750 for 2 years in a row, not 15 years. Losses, Depreciation, and not drawing a salary from Trump, Inc. or Uncle Sam, Inc., it is conceivable.

It is only inconceivable to those who don't have the kind of throwaway money and assets that Trump apparently has.

Not a problem really, after he leaves the presidency he can just do what Bill and Barack did.

    Avoiding paying taxes is legal.
    Evasion is illegal.

    Therein lies the question.

He deducted $70,000 for 'hair salon' over a period of years.

I've been in business, and I never deducted hair cuts. if he deducts crap like that, he's taken tons of deductions that are illegal.

But on his published financial reports he's reporting big income.

    That's an issue, right there.

What charities does Trump donate to aside from the ones that he donates his entire presidential salary to?

Of course, this is just the money that we know about:

A person has a right to avoid taxes consistent with the law. I would love to know who his tax accountants are. Consider his personal doctor who provided the letter claiming Trump was the healthiest president ever and consider Rudy Giuliani, his personal lawyer. He does have a type where experts are concerned. He goes for the comically inept ones. I imagine his tax accountant is an 85 year old working out of an abandoned strip mall in Queens who consistently tells Trump, "sure we can deduct that" and "no, we don't need to report that" even though the man lost his hearing ten years ago and has no idea what Trump is saying to him.

It's the NYT. It's not like they have ever been caught lying or taking something out of context. Another situation where the left says Trump is an idiot while complaining that he is a financial tax genius. They can't seem to figure out which he is, an idiot or a financial wizard screwing over the govt and fooling all those IRS agents. I don't believe the article.

The reality is Trump is an idiot with good tax accountants. Or perhaps not considering how long he has been under audit. Perhaps both he and his tax accountants are idiots.

    Fake news?

Trump just needs to release his taxes LIKE EVERY OTHER PRESIDENT HAS DONE to set this all to rest.

    Simple.
