You mean like Garland's supreme court hearings who was confirmed as a fed judge 76-23 by a Republican senate? Yeah, those were brief.

Garland highlights another difference. Obama nominated a straight middle of the road justice to replace Scalia. Trump nominates a reactionary conservative to replace the most liberal justice.

    Sad.

Republicans didn't ask Sotomayor or Kagan if they were rapists. But you're probably right, no nastiness here. That's the sort of challenges the left is bringing. Don't try and convince me this is anything other than a lame liberal attempt to discredit Barret, it has nothing to do with her qualifications. Its pathetic...

That's why Garland wasn't confirmed. Republicans know Garland was qualified, there wasn't a question of that, and would have been compelled to confirm him. At the same time, Kavanaugh and Barret are equally qualified, but liberals vote straight down the party line against non-liberal nominees, which means its pure politics on the left...

Was Barrett asked if she raped someone? I must have been getting a sandwich when that happened.

No they weren't, not even in the ballpark. Garland had more years on a federal bench than four of the last 5 GOP nominees had on any court, even night court included, combined. Everyone knew exactly how he'd serve because they had hundreds of his rulings to read. On the other side you had a nominee who had never even been in a court trial and couldn't even say what basic court terms meant without consulting his books, how is he supposed to effectively question the litigants if he has to look up what the words they're using? Much like the current nominee who couldn't answer what the freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution are. How is she supposed to protect the constitution if she doesn't know what 12 year olds learn in civics class? Honestly, the first amendment was first for a reason, are we going to kiss it goodbye?
