there is no research that will say anything but it's a possibility, that it may increase the risks, ect....

I can post research that too many carbs can cause it, would that prove I am right

this is one of those issue based more on belief as I do not think the science can tell us exactly what caused a cancer or a vein to fail in a toe, ect... we can surmise and guess based on what we think could cause it though

looking at that example, it says the patient had diabetes, yes they happen to be a smoker too, but my bet in on the diabetes

You would lose that bet because we have already seen the change in population data in Australia with the reduction of smoking whilst there has been an increase in obesity and carbohydrate intake

which link shows a chart of amputated toes reducing in great numbers after smoking was reduced

increased risk does not mean positive causation if the medical condition is gotten and someone smokes, it just means it could be a likely cause or contributor

I did a search on goggle for "amputations Australia yearly chart" and it just brought up diabetes charts as that is the most common reason for amputations

Why would I blame healthcare workers?

I don't smoke anymore, I quit 9 months ago through substitution with vaping.

do not believe that one either, too many carbs cause diabetes and reducing carbs reverses it

quitting smoking might, as many turn to sweets after they quit, lollipops, ect...

some even turn to lollipops now to supplement smoking, IE: cigs cost too much, so they use lollipops to reduce the amount they smoke

that was how I quit about 10 year ago as well, about the time the government here in the USA required carpet glue be added to cigarettes

I made my own for a bit with tubes, much cheaper, and no carpet glue, but then found ecigs and eventually just quit after reducing the nicotine slowly till it was just juice - without ecigs, not sure I ever would have quit, made it easy

Which is more or less what we have now. If you want additional cover you take out private health care and pay for it yourself (as I have). The point is while you may 'support" the idea of a basic universal health care coverage for US Citizens (and more power to you ) its still just a pipe dream for America as opposed to a more or less basic right in most other western nations.

And good luck turning your 'support ' into reality. I wish you all the best. It's just that it looks like it's going to be an uphill battle to achieve, albeit a goal worth fighting for.

My sentiment exactly. I went from smoking 25g of rollies a day to not a single one for 9 months in an instant, without any effort whatsoever.

There are some like you, but my bet is your experience is the exception rather than the rule.

I'm sure your right to own a firearm is a little different than mine. I live in a State with Constitutional carry - so I can carry a handgun open or concealed. I have a concealed carry permit that provides reciprocity with other States so I can carry a handgun in most non liberal States in the US. I also own an AR-15. At my local gun range, I occasionally see full auto weapons and/or weapons with a sound suppressor. And guess what. It is very safe where I live. We did have a bank robbery several years ago. The bank robber (who was white) was chased down by the local sheriff (up to 100 mph on back road) and given a sound thrashing (for which the Sheriff was later arrested by the FBI and ended up convicted). Other than that, I am not really aware of any crime.

You’re fortunate to have done it so easily.
I had two failed attempts to cease and was finally successful after several years of Nicolette gum.

    Where is the Australian

    Black Market for cigarettes?

    Seems like "organized crime"
    isn't as enterprising in OZ-Land.

It’s there, but I’ve only heard of “chop chop”. Unregulated tobacco grown in Australia.
I’m not sure who the growers are.

it used to be bought from South East Asian convenience stores.
About $30 for a half kilo. Sometimes not very well cured and inclined to have mould.

made into “rollies” with the aid of a little apparatus, cigarette papers and optional filters.

    @Sallyally

Black Market cigarettes are brand quality,
maybe lacking the "stamp" indicating their
    tax was paid.

I’ve only heard of black market cigarettes around the Mediterranean.

On the contrary, the example I have set has convinced my entire house to do the same.

We've all quit smoking through nicotine replacement therapy via vaping.

we will never agree on this one, no way I believe a person lost a toe or foot because of smoking

yes, excessive smoking can harm the lungs, throat, but amputations, just not buying it

The government doesn't want to lose the tax income.
