    https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-claims-421-million-debt-171014166.html

Title abridged due to character count.

First of all, it's kind of insulting to insist so much during yesterday's town hall that $421 million dollars is peanuts. That's kind of insensitive to all the unemployed people right now, and those suffering with the economic crisis (and hey, he pays only $750 in taxes, not to forget the 10 years when he paid nothing). So, we the people are the losers and suckers, right?

Second, it seems like he owes twice as much.

    My, oh my...

I understand what you are saying, but I think of this a bit differently. I think he wants to give the impression that he is comfortable with money and understands it "better" than the average person. The fact that he's not concerned about the coming debt or that it's considered "tiny" to him somehow shows that he's the right guy for the job of handling the country's money.

I am not a fan but I understand why his smoke and mirrors appeals to many. He's good at his "A" game.

Yes now he's running up our countries National Debt at a record setting pace, just like he did his own debt. Future generations stuck with the bills he ran up will be cursing him well into the future.

When you own as much real estate as Trump does this amount of debt is nothing. How about taking a look at Biden's bank account to see how much he's been tipping the maid.

I am not Trump supporter, but as I understand the real estate business, in order to buy property you take a loan - so if your project is not successful, you share your losses with a bank.

Calm down man! Nobody really owns anything. Don't pay property taxes and the government comes and takes it. Why are you so mad at Trump?

You would prefer he not approve the stimulus? You really need to decide where you are on this. You are either for not providing the stimulus and keeping down the national debt or you are for the stimulus and running up the national debt.

He's a business man, one with a literally billion dollar portfolio. I understand how it seems "out of touch", but the democrats are the ones wanting to discuss his finances, so you should be emotionally prepared for what those type of numbers mean(as someone who's going into business.). Once you get in the mode(seriously, I can reference you to some great people to start with on YouTube on entrepreneurship), you'll never look at $10,000 dollars(the cost of a cheap ass car) the same way again.

Owing 10,000 to these people, is not a lot of money. To a billionaire, 421 million isn't as much as it seems.

    > $400 million is peanuts!!! Let that sink in. Millions of people just lost their jobs and are denied proper unemployment assistance by Trump and the GOP cabal because they are supposedly too lazy to go back to work, and he calls $400 million peanuts. Talk about being tone deaf. Unfortunately, too many people will still be voting for this cra$.

People are on the brink of losing their homes and struggling to feed their families while the POTUS shrugs off $400 million like it's chump change.

    Good question.

I think the Trumps do own some property somewhere. See, here's a picture of it.

I don't think you can mortgage that though.

What has that to do with the unemployed?

The left wants to criticize him because he is in debt. He has two choices. He can either say the debt is a problem or he can say the debt is not a problem. He does not believe the debt is a problem. All of which has nothing to do with the unemployment.

The POTUS has a job. He may not accept a salary but he certainly has an income. He is not going to be homeless, without a vehicle or food anytime soon. Millions of people across the country are struggling every day because they cannot find work, lost their job and/or cannot afford to go to work because they cannot afford childcare (pre-Covid, kids would normally be in school).

Trump saying that much money is "tiny" is a slap in the face to REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL PROBLEMS (that are mounting constantly).

Trump didn't call $400 millions peanut, your fellow Trump hating leftist did. lol

$400 millions, borrowed by Trump and invested in his businesses aren't peanuts, they pay salaries of tens of thousands of Trump's employees, putting food on their family tables and cheap gas (the courtesy of Trumps energy independence policy) in the tanks of their family minivans.

God bless the president, his America first policies and his generous businesses that support tens of thousands of American families.

In terms of his finances, it probably *is* chump change. You asked him about his finances, and honestly this might be the most truthful he's been(from your perspective) in his Presidency and it's triggering lol.

I don't particularly care what he says or does. I answered a question posed in this thread.

You do care, or you wouldn't have reacted to the situation in that way. And I just find it particularly funny that people think Trump's being insensitive here. I wouldn't be surprised, shocked in the least at how frank Trump's being. Here's a hint for future aspiring entrepreneurs: Debt is the way of life of an entrepreneur, and in a good way.

Truly an unwinnable situation. Either he passes stimulus which is necessarily based on debt to alleviate COVID and he's chewed out for debt or he doesn't and he's chewed out for lack of compassion and going against what the monetarists want.
