This week, the legislature in California voted to remove the constitutional prohibition on "discriminating against or granting preferential treatment to persons on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, and public contracting." That’s right, California just voted to allow racial and gender discrimination in all its public activities. The bill will move to the ballot in November for a popular vote.

The reason why is so they can allow affirmative action.

This was more or less inevitable. It's a shame that we're moving to a state where the content of our melanin is our most important feature.

I will vote to keep Affirmative Action in California. I'm sure the large Hispanic population here will vote for it too.
Thank you for this reminder. :)

Affirmative action, when you don't have the skills for the job but you're really loud. Hilarious.

I guess people are always looking for a handout or given a step up through entitlement and not ability.

It amazes me that the "woke" push this while failing to realize that they are opening the door back up for the KKK.

    Latest update -
By a 57 to 43 percent vote, California voters have rejected Proposition 16 that would have repealed the ban on affirmative action that voters approved in a 1996 referendum.

This despite Governor Newsom, Democrats who represent California in the US House and Senate; the mayors of San Francisco, San Jose, and San Diego; the Bay Area professional sports franchises; Facebook, Wells Fargo, Uber, and United Airlines; the University of California Board of Regents; and the leading media editorial boards and major public employee unions all endorsing Proposition 16.
Basically all the big important people in the state were trying to get this passed.

    No!

Important big people dare not to support it.

Same for our sacred, Prop. 13 and Property Tax.
Everyone of the big important people opposed it
and the little, unimportant people made it law.

No government nor tax supported agencies should be
categorizing people by race, ancestry, religion, etc.
Little, unimportant people see it that way.

That is not the same as the twisted interpretation
    of voting to allow discrimination.

    You want discrimination?
The NBA only hires tall people for its' teams!

Did you even correctly understand what I stated?

I stated that the big people were in favor of this Proposition which would have repealed that part in the state Constitution, so that the state government could then be allowed to discriminate.

And any big people who did not support it
    were writing their political obituary.

Big People wanted a repeal of the ban on affirmative action
Common folks do not support the State categorizing people by
    gender, race, etc. etc.

Terming AA as discrimination, okay. LOL
So twisted. Especially for a dyslexic

Try a triple negative why don'tchya
