If non-wearers were more likely to be infected, then why was it not 85% non mask wearers?

Stands to reason if non-mask wearers are more likely to contact Covid, then any study of the infected would include a majority of people not wearing masks.

I suppose it makes a difference where the study is done, like one of those panicky leftist areas that had the most deaths.

How else do you plan on getting Twitter to not censor official government officials?

Ask them nicely? You can either ask them not to do so which is obviously not working or make a law stating they can't. If you have another idea I'd like to hear it.

In fact, in a tweet on Oct. 14, the CDC said the study's results were being misinterpreted.

"A recent (CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) looking at exposures among people w/ and w/o #COVID19 also assessed rates of mask use. However, the interpretation that more mask-wearers are getting infected compared to non-mask wearers is incorrect."

Taking the mask off to eat in a public setting had a lot to do with contraction of coronavirus, the study found.

"People w/ and w/o #COVID19 had high levels of mask use in public. Even for those who always wear a mask, there are activities where masks can’t be worn, like eating or drinking. People w/ COVID-19 were more likely to have eaten in a restaurant," the CDC further tweeted.

It's true, as the post claims, that 70.6% of the "case patients" self-reported always wearing masks. But an even higher percentage of the "control patients" who did not contract the virus self-reported always wearing masks, at 74.2%, which suggests that their mask-wearing may have helped stave off the virus.

So any time you take your mask off or wear it wrong you'll get infected, not that they're effective at filtration anyway.

Maybe we could make those old timey diving helmets make a comeback. Open the little window to eat and stuff.

    Bullshit... [IMG]

    https://www.logically.ai/factchecks/library/ac22e34c

During a town hall on Oct. 15, US President Donald Trump claimed that as per a Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report, 85% of the people wearing masks catch coronavirus. However, the President seems to have completely misinterpreted the report and misleadingly quoted a figure of 85%, implying that the figure refers to the overall US population percentage. However, the report never stated that 85% of the people who wear masks catch coronavirus.

The study, which was published on Sept. 11, looked at the behavior of 154 symptomatic people who had tested positive for the coronavirus in July and 160 people who reported symptoms but tested negative in the same month. The study found that 85% of the 154 people who tested positive said they had worn a mask either “always” or “often” over the 14 days before contracting the virus. This is where the 85% figure comes from.

Furthermore, what Trump did not mention was out of the 160 people in the study who had tested negative, 88.7% said they had worn a mask either “always” or “often.”

The report stated that the analysis was restricted to the participants without known close contact with a person with confirmed COVID-19. The report further stated that case-patients were more likely to report dining at a restaurant or going to a bar/coffee shop. It said, ‘exposures and activities where mask use and social distancing are difficult to maintain, including going to places that offer on-site eating or drinking, might be important risk factors for acquiring COVID-19’. The study found that “close contact with persons with known COVID-19 or going to locations that offer on-site eating and drinking options were associated with COVID-19 positivity.”

According to a CDC report on ‘Considerations for wearing masks,’ published on Aug. 7, it has recommended that people wear masks in public settings and when around people who don’t live in your household, especially when other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. The report stated that masks might help prevent people who have COVID-19 from spreading the virus to others.

The COVID-19 pandemic has given rise to a lot of potentially dangerous misinformation. For reliable advice on COVID-19 including symptoms, prevention and available treatment, please refer to the World Health Organisation or your national healthcare authority.

We're well on our way to a quarter million dead and we haven't even hit winter. It's the biggest epidemic threat we've faced in a century. No, it isn't hype. Yes, the preponderance of evidence is that masks help.

He's a radiologist, with zero qualifications in epidemiology or infectious diseases. The questionable common sense is with those who would listen to his recommendations, which are in direct opposition to the top epidemiologists and infectious disease experts.

Or maybe a BLM “protest”/riot or ANTIFA block burning? Maybe burn another Federal building or police station? Or just living in NYC or other Leftist cities, you know where most of the deaths are. Democrat run and all. Maybe all these Dem leaders should have done something more to curb the spread like harsher penalties for walking around without masks when visiting salons? Maybe shut down more businesses and lock people in their homes. That could work?

LMAO, right, masks don't work, and you are complaining about common sense. Before this pandemic, China and other countries, people were wearing masks to help prevent the spread of viruses.

Do you think the speed limit is just a symbol as well?
