I'm seeing this more and more, all the time - it's incredibly disturbing. Has all the characteristics of the damned Spanish Inquisition. If you don't make the right noises in the right way, you're deemed 'for the devil'. If you say nothing, you're of the devil. If you dare to question, you ARE the devil. I watched a dialogue a few days ago wherein a bunch of Progressives were trying to get people to sign some petition. One of their number .. and I would say one of the most liberal people I and they know .. had some very reasonable questions about the petition, as it wasn't clearly explained. OMG, they absolutely hammered him. Lifelong friends, just piled on - nasty and scathing. Was sickening.

Politics has become religion for too many. That hole they had in their lives due to disconnected lifestyles, atheism, whatever .. has been filled by this.

 

You're lumping entirely different propositions together as though equal.

ONLY immutables should be protected. In other words things we have no say in because they're biological conditions of our birth. In other words race and gender.

Religion (and sexual activity, and gender identity, and culture, etc) is a mutable. It's a choice, so should not be protected. If you attempt to protect behavioural choices, you doom society to gross inequity and injustice.

 

It's almost like some of these groups think the way to end racism is to keep it alive.

The entire point of the 1960's was to stop caring about race, because that had been a problem for far too long.

Strange times indeed .. when the lessons have to be learned all over again, so soon after we tried to learn them the first time. Looks as though the only genuine anti-racism activists, were those who tried so hard to fix things in the 60's.

 

The Communist play the long game. Communists and anarchist were hard at work attempting to take over the US 100 years ago but they were stopped in their tracks by J. Edgar Hoover. e.g. Palmer raids, deportations, etc.

The next J. Edgar needs to step forward and swing in action pretty soon.

 

If there's one thing we know about Progressives, it's that implications are never on the agenda. If you think things through too much, you have to start dancing with logic, practicalities, and the reality of limitations. Once you start that dance, your 'feelings-based' positions are fairly quickly reduced to the spoiled bleatings of the only child of very wealthy parents. A world in which consequences don't matter, because someone else will deal with your mess.

 

America will never be communist. Or even socialist, for that matter.

Your people are far too wedded to their democratic capitalist lifestyle (and more power to them, I have no objection to that!), to ever accept a life of compulsory dormitory living and hard labour.
