Trump pulled a lot of his television and radio advertising dollars recently. Looks like he is just going for a big rally strategy to energize the base and get out the votes.

    Today (Tuesday 10/13): Johnstown, Pennsylvania

    Wednesday: Des Moines, Iowa

    Thursday: Greenville, North Carolina

    Friday: Ocala, Florida
    Friday: Macon, Georgia

His plane is pulling up in Pennsylvania right now. Big crowd.

I have a marketing background, so I really enjoy analyzing campaign strategies. Trump really loves being on stage. Biden doesn't enjoy it too much, and would rather not have to speak to the public. So, starting with the products which are being sold to the public (the candidates), Trump's campaigning is a lot more interesting.

You can always tell if the Trump campaign is targeting a particular voter demographic by who they place behind him at rallies. Tonight almost all the supporters appear to be in their 20's and 30's. If that continues this week, then the campaign is trying to increase Trump's voter share among younger voters.

...and women. Trump definitely needs help in the "middle-class suburban women" market.

Yes, he is a showman for sure. You can tell he gets energized from his crowds.

"I'll kiss him. Won't enjoy it but I'll kiss him.". Ha Ha I do NOT need that visual of him kissing anybody!

    Up today. Des Moines, Iowa.

Supposed to start at 7pm EST. Trump is usually a bit late, but will have some pre-rally speakers to fill time.

Also, I noticed that some of the ladies behind Trump at yesterday's even looked uncomfortably chilly by the end. The temperature in Des Moines right now is 71 degrees, but with 30-45 MPH winds! Could get really chilly after sunset.

Biden has better commercials IMO although they are full of empty promises but well done. I've never been to a rally for anyone,, no interest but they apparently work and draw in votes.

Enthusiasm still seems in trumps favor based on what I see.

Yeah, I'm personally not one to enjoy big, loud crowds but Trump sure can draw them regularly.

I'm watching a Masterclass hosted by Karl Rove and David Axelrod on campaign strategy.

    Two things to note -

1- Neither understand how so many think they can't be friends with team "other," people. They are, apparently, friends. Scalia and Ginsberg were pals as well.
2 - They both agree that the worst campaign strategy is only playing to your base. The base is the base and won't change for either side. If you can't convince the non partisans, you will lose.

    We'll see how it goes.

Trump had a Jeb Bush "please clap," moment today. He said, "Suburban women - will you please like me?"

I think Trump is focused on making sure his supporters show up to vote at this point. Polls are showing 3%-6% of (possibly imaginary) undecided voters.

My husband thinks he knows he lost, and is just running around grabbing all the ego filling praise he can, before he gets ousted.

I dunno, I don't think it's nearly as in the bag as others do.

It's all about turnout now. Biden isn't really running a campaign. He is simply not Trump. That is the platform.

Trump is running against Trump with support from his supporters and the "hate Trump" supporters will vote Biden by default.

No one is enthusiastic about Biden, but an enthusiastic "Hate Trump" voter will go for him anyway. An unenthusiastic vote counts equally to an enthusiastic vote.

I think Biden will blow out the popular vote. I wouldn't count on the electoral vote being in the bag at all.

Except for Reagan and Obama's first term, there hasn't really been a candidate to be enthused about in my voting life, unless you count Ron Paul and Ross Perot.

I'll probably go back to 3rd party voting in 2024. Right now, California Democrats have spent the year pouring money and volunteer activists into Texas, and the race is tied between Trump/Biden and Cornyn/Hegar. Since I believe that a Kamala Harris presidency would be a bigger disaster than 4 more years of Trump, I'm going with "Team Orange" this year. :)

    I hear ya.

My husband, who has never voted R/D in a federal election, and only votes R/D in state and local elections where there is no third choice, is voting straight D ticket this year. That's how pissed he is right now. He wants to punish every R for supporting this man.

In 2016 he voted for Migrant Caravan. He loathes the parties about equally.

I'm not going THAT far off the reservation. I'm pretty sure when we sit down to do our ballots tonight, I will circle in for Joe, and then just every non-incumbent for the rest, where there is no third party option.

We'll see how it goes. As usual, no matter who wins, I will be unhappy. It might be refreshing to have all the partisan democrats hurling insults at me for four years. I'm tired of taking it from the partisan republicans.

    Pennsylvania Rally now.

I'm reading that the Trump campaign has outpaced new Republican voter registrations in swing states than Democrats have. I expect these rallies are great voter registration events. Large crowd there now.

Well damn, I'm from Ocala but moved many years ago, I'd have gone. I doubt he will come here but Obama did in 2009 to tour the solar fields, not that I cared...

When the WaPo chokes on a Biden Big Whopper you know there are serious problems with Biden's commercials and his campaign.

    "The Pinocchio Test
To make a long story short, Democrats ginned up a letter from the chief actuary to describe a plan that does not currently exist. Trump certainly suggested he might eliminate the payroll tax, but then he pulled back from that idea and reiterated that any diversion for a payroll tax holiday would come out of general funds.

The ad refers to “Trump’s planned cuts.” But there are no planned cuts.
The ad cites “Trump’s plan.” But the actuary’s letter says it is referring only to a hypothetical plan sketched out by Democrats.
The ad asserts that if “Trump gets his way,” benefits will run out. But actually the letter says if transfers are made from general funds, no benefits would run out. That, at least at the moment, is what Trump says he would do.
That adds up to Four Pinocchios."
WASHINGTON POST, Fact Checker, Analysis, Biden campaign attacks a Trump Social Security ‘plan’ that does not exist, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's campaign released an ad that attacks a President Trump Social Security plan that doesn't exist., By Glenn Kessler, September 4, 2020.

There is a group of Trump supporters that is giving my BFF agita. Every Tuesday for the last several weeks, they gather on an overpass facing Southbound passengers on I-95, in Palm Beach County, waving signs. Every week the crowd grows bigger. Anyone counting Trump out is being premature. I think this is a close race. Today she called as she left the office; "I have to drive by them again!" I told her, hang on - two more weeks. I'm trying to remind everyone, both left & right, that no matter how it turns out, the country loses, and we'll be fine anyway.
