It's election day. All the BS is over. What's going on? Is it Biden with the big win?

 

538 gives Biden 9 out of 10 chances of winning.

The wannabe Fascist-in-Chief needs to SWEEP the closely contested battlegrounds in order to "win" and with HIGH turnout that is UNLIKELY to happen.

Given that there are at 6 of these states and one of them is PA the result is probably NOT going to be known early UNLESS Biden is the clear winner in AZ or NC IMO.

 

Biden will win the popular vote by more than Hillary did. Odds on an electoral college win are about 50/50.

Of the 6 CLOSE battlegrounds with the highest EC counts Biden only needs to win ONE of them whereas your wannabe Fascist-in-Chief MUST win ALL of them.

 

Most all of the swing states are within the margin of error. Everything depends on turnout, as always.

The only probably "early" guarantee for Biden is if he pulls off a win in Florida. If he does that, then the race is pretty much over.

If it comes down to Pennsylvania, we'll be waiting for a few weeks to know the outcome.

 

What time can states start releasing vote counts? Florida already started counting right.

 

Trump has the numbers. The Dems' gamble was to run up the score with mail-in voting and build an unsurmountable advantage by election day. They are ahead but not even remotely close to where they need/want to be.

Trump has more than enough high propensity votes left to overcome the small deficit, in essentially all battleground states,
moreover his campaign invested hundreds of millions in ground game and have for months been knocking on a million doors a week.

The dems are faced with an unpleasant necessity of mobilizing the dwindling number of their remaining voters whom they've spent months scaring shitless with the dangers of in-person voting and
somehow convincing them to vote in person. And the dems need to do this without having a ground game.

PS even the Dems' polling advantage in battleground states has all but disappeared, not that it matters as it was bogus in the first place. PA went from Biden +7% to Biden +1.2% in less than a week, and dropping.

As soon as the polls close, states can start releasing numbers.

The Florida count should be complete fairly quickly. Counting is well underway there.

Pennsylvania isn't even going to allow one vote to be counted until tomorrow. All those mail-in ballots will sit, sealed, until tomorrow.

I don't know but with any luck we should find out by the end of the month.

If Biden needs Pennsylvania, then he is in trouble.

 

I am fairly certain (and I could be wrong) they will count today's in-person vote tonight, they will start counting mail-in ballots tomorrow.

PS Trump will need 1 - 1.1 million advantage by the end of the day in PA to feel comfortable, maybe less. According to his campaign they have 2.6 million voters left in PA, Dems have about 1.3 million voters left.

Nate Silver (53 expects Pennsylvania to "look like" a Trump win, but will swing to Biden once the mail ballots are counted (chart in article linked above).

In other words, I don't think we can count on (pun intended) Pennsylvania until their release their final numbers.

Did you read the 538 article? It is saying that the in-person vote will make it appear that Trump has a big win, but Silver expects most of the mail-in ballots to be Democrats....leading to a Biden win.

So, it would not be surprising if Trump makes some early braggadocios statements before all the results are in....and ends up being wrong. It doesn't really matter what Trump, or Biden, says before all the states declare their winner.

The final is the final is the final "official" result, no matter what political posturing from either campaign gets tossed out there. Agreed?

Obviously none of us know. With the fiddling around of how votes are sent in due to the COVID-19 scare we might not KNOW for upwards of two weeks or even more after tonight.
