BTW @Bluesguy , something just occurred to me. Have you ever read You Only Live Twice? What was Bond's number designation in that book? Hint: Ian Fleming, the guy who created the damn character, disagreed with you decades ago regarding your claim that Bond and his number are inseparable.
Hmmm... being an Irish Republican (not the same as an American Republican) I tend to do what I do when watching real football, I root for the side competing against the Brits... we need better villains, few have been of the stature of Goldfinger.
It took me a minute, but that was the novel I ended on, so something kept bugging me about it. Anyway, if anyone wants to get into the novels, I highly suggest Moonraker. The movie was absolute crap, but the book was great.
What do you have against Scotland and Wales? Brits never actually compete as a side in football. With the exception of the 2012 Olympics. I think you must have meant that you support anyone competing against the English.
The films' reliance on stupid gadgets and ''witty'' one liners have ruined the franchise. Bond books are far more realistic. Bond stories are not meant to be sci-fi fantasies.
All of them and in proper sequence have you? And the iconic character remains James Bond 007 and ALL MALE. From the first James Bond 007 book Casino Royale Do you even know why he was given the temporary designation 7777 and was then returned to 00 status? Have you even read the book?
Why not? Hell, 'back in the day' they cast JOHN WAYNE to play the part of GENGHIS KAHN! ("The Conqueror", 1956) What's next? Maybe they can have "Cat Woman" playing the part of Rin Tin Tin! . "You got sumthin' against 'inclusiveness' and 'diversity', white boy...?!" . -- "Woof!"
I don't think that truth is going to be accepted no matter how many times you repeat it. Some people cling to ignorance like free climbers cling to a cliff face.
I see. Never read any of Flemming's books, so cannot really comment on that. I have heard/read seversal times that most movies only share the title with Flemming's writings. They should have used this car in one the current movies.
From Russia With Love did use a similar era Bentley when Bond drove a drophead 3.5 litre Bentley mark IV from 1935.
And that was a total joke but then Genghis Kahn was not a woman in real life being played by a man. What if Jake Austin could have played Jacob Trembly could have played John of Arc in the new movie instead of the little girl they hired to play Joan. I think they are looking at Leonardo DiCaprio.
In every book I could always hear the rumble I imagined it would make................but then I love the DB6! The console of my BMW Z4
You do make a valid observation, foxhastings, and the corollary observation might be that regarding movies in the 21st-century 'ANYTHING can entertain them !!!' -- even if it's unimaginative, pre-digested, low-IQ drivel, contorted in ways that only a simpleton could enjoy.... I used to wonder if there was 'something wrong with me' because since the year 2000, I've been inside a theater exactly seven times to watch a movie (LOTR series, Hobbit series, and, "Hidalgo"). Thank God for DVD's and Blu-ray, and more recently, the ability to STREAM nearly everything imaginable -- including many worthwhile movies! Speaking of which: didja' ever see "Becket", starring Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton? Look! King Henry the Second is actually a WHITE guy -- ya know... just like in reality! . "Ain't no white guy ever gonna play ME in a damn movie!"
By all means, feel welcome to find 'victory' in anything that amuses you. Parenthetically, many in your faction remind me of a line in "Becket", where King Henry explodes in rage, "I WANT NO MORE THINKING!" Surely, Jean Anouilh's King Henry would be very happy among many American Democrats in the 21st-century.... . "I'm only here because they wouldn't cast me as Muhammad Ali!"
A black female Bond? That's going from fiction to fantasy. May as well have Dolly Parton play as Pavarotti.
Have you even read the thread? There is no black female Bond. Your kneejerk reaction is seriously misplaced.
Bullshirt, Fleming didn't write documentaries by any means but he did have extensive experience as a "spymaster" in both WWII and shortly thereafter which he drew on heavily in making 007 "real". The stories were based on the fact that the "double 0's" were "licensed to kill" in other words, assassins. As I understand it they were technically illegal in most nation's "security services" except America's and GB's with this being because they were against most nation's diplomacy agreements. (the "fat chance protocols" I believe). Bond was therefore always a "deep cover" agent operating on a full wartime footing most of the time and only able to call on "M" for help in really dire circumstances if at all. This rule was, however, only honored in the breach even from the beginning and less and less as the series continued. By the later books, he was more a straight covert military operative than otherwise, though this always varied As for a female 007, I really wonder why it took them so long. Even more than men sometimes women LIKE being covert killers There are no "Male Fatales " after all
Movies are important, along with plays and novels. These are the stories of our culture, that teach us what life is about. They are the most important thing.
LOL. aww, you were wounded and had to strike out....I understand, I watched the President do that for four years
