No one said "most" groceries are closed. If they are doing Rapid Response tests on grocery workers for "safety", you can bet more will close before others open though. Groceries have a lot of younger workers who will be asymptomatic. An average grocery employees 40 people. It won't be difficult for 4 employees at any store to test positive.

The tyranny of these blue governors are easier to swallow if you just call Tweets and photographs from angry citizens "crap". Ignore governors cutting of citizens' access to food, and it's not really happening, right?

She's part of the NM political/crime machine family. This is what a shakedown of the peasants looks like, in retaliation for their having the gall to vote in higher numbers for republicans.... This is what petty dictators do. And for some reason, she believes that she's in China where she can get away with this crap.

It's getting rough here. At a time when the stores are already typically crowded for Thanksgiving shopping (and Black Friday) this woman chose to shut down stores and put people out of work.

There are 4 Walmarts in my city of Las Cruces and 2 of them are shut down completely. Of the 2 that are open, only 75 people are allowed to be in a store at any given time and 25 of them are employees. The lines to get in are HUGE and when people do get in they're buy 2 shopping carts worth of stuff - can't say I blame them all that much because who would want to wait on lines that I'm told are over 3 hours long?

Yes, there was a surge in china virus positive tests, and like Trump said, more people are testing positive because more people are getting tested. My union president's wife works in 1 of 2 of the major hospitals here and she said there has NOT been a rise in the number of people who are being admitted with the china virus. So all the fear placed on the people of NM is because the people with ZERO to MILD symptoms got tested and tested positive even though nothing was wrong with them.

And yes, El Paso is the cause of our rise in positive tests and they were locked down hard for several months, but they are now open again.

I had hopes that Trump would have made china pay for what they did to our country and the world, but with Biden, I'm afraid he just might apologize to China and offer them billions in financial aid for the virus that we gave them.

That was a political power play by both sides. Both sides had came up with exactly what they wanted and neither would budge from that. Compromise, the game of give and take is an art long gone out of today's modern political era of polarization and mega, ultra high partisanship.

Each side blames the other and neither side can see they have mud on their hands.

When I say that NM is a "very poor" state, I think some folks here have no idea the implications of that, especially with government cutting off food distribution .

Trump wanted less tests, so we have less tests

they need to give people a heads up before shutting down grocery stores, not everyone is as prepared as most on here

that said, humans can fast for some time and unless they have health problems, probably would do most good as it's the ultimate cleanse, but most would not like it at all - really depends how long the shutdown is

I would also say, people are going to be angry if they have to do it, but others don't and most will just drive to where those others don't, thus spreading it more

We ran 150 millions test the first several months, then the Trump Admin announced last month that we were ready to distribute an additional 150 million "Rapid Response" tests, mostly for front line workers, schools, prisons and nursing homes. That is what they are using now. The Rapid Response tests are less accurate than PCR.

Let people fast. It's healthy. :cynic: Can't get much more cruel and inhumane than that, especially if you're talking about people who stretch their food dollars thin week-to-week as it is.

Hey, they went for Bidden so they get what they deserve. I can't feel sorry for people who vote for a party that has shown their true tyrannical colors.

Based on a test that is the functional equivalent of a coin toss.

Really solid and rational public policy by the governesss. :frustrated:

If they own a cellphone or a land line phone they can still order that way.

When people need food today they aren't going to be depending on Fedex. It's a holiday season. Even if you have Amazon prime you are going to be waiting a solid week for any deliveries.

Most major pharmacies have home delivery as do many mom and pop's as well. However it's highly unlikely that pharmacies would not be considered "essential".

Something people will need to learn and it's called "planning ahead". They sit down, plan out what they need on a weekly basis and order it.

How can you plan ahead when somebody suddenly closes down your only source of food?

Wouldn't the sick ones stay home and therefore become unnecessary to be sanitized?

Once everyone recognizes that the sky has not, in fact, fallen - perhaps you could see that grocery delivery services are a thing. Even for the ones that have been closed to the public.

No more likely than if three test positive. They would stay home too.
