PBS affiliates have been running a Docu-series entitled Rise of the Nazis. It has a production date of 2019, & is largely composed of various historians, specializing in that time period, giving their insights into various players & events. Still, there is a narrator who fills in the gaps; and while, I'm sure, no compromises were made to detract from its accuracy, it's hard to believe that a certain contemporary character didn't cross the writers' minds while describing Hitler's orientation, upon his appointment to Chancellor:
"He refuses to engage in the boring day-to-day detail of running a country. He has no interest in the opinions of experts, & he refuses to read briefings."

Interestingly, Trump & Hitler also shared the management technique of getting their underlings to compete w/ one another; "a team of rivals," the documentary called it. One of the historians explained that if Hitler directed 3 people to do the same thing, he felt that the most ruthless, the best Nazi, would be the one who succeeded.

Whether all this was coincidental, a result of study & purposeful patterning himself after a role model, or a combination, Trump also seemed to be relying on others to help him overturn this election. The directive Hitler had given to his people was to make him dictator. According to the narrator, "with his team dismantling the system for him, he can just sit back & watch." If there'd been a reference to playing golf, I think I'd have fallen out of my seat (they did mention, though, that Hitler spent a good amount of time out of town, taking vacations).

Since it had only taken Hitler's men 6 months, after he'd assumed the chancellorship, to destroy German democracy, maybe we should consider ourselves lucky.
