It's normal for married couples to have separate domiciles in their later years when they can afford it. You think Bill still sleeps with Hillary? Ya, right!

LOL - She's 50. As a woman over 50, I'll just say that I'm not done sharing a bed with my husband. But, we like each other!

To become a dictator, you need the backing of other people in power. He tried to threaten Michigan lawmakers into overturning the result and ignoring the voters. Military commanders have already said they are loyal to the constitution, not any one person. He tried to seize power and no one played along.

Where has he tried to seize power? I must have missed that.

By the way, I said the military swore to uphold the Constitution. The president is not mentioned in that oath.

I am surprised that they are not being asked if they would like to transfer to some off shore island with no extradition

Well, how about declaring himself the winner on election night when he was clearly losing? How about inviting michigan lawmakers to the white house to discuss ways to throw out ballots. How about trying to get 7 million ballots thrown out because two ballots weren't counted? How do you feel about the Trump campaign holding press conferences alleging mass voter fraud while in court they say, "this is not about fraud."

Absolutely nothing he did is illegal. He is allowed to challenge the results.

Personally I don't believe he has enough of a case to overturn the election, but he has every right to try to do so.

Uh. You need to re-read the constitution. I promise, the President is mentioned a few times. Upholding the constitution includes the parts about the president. LOL.

I have taken that oath a few times. The president is never mentioned.

This is the oath of office for military officers:

“I, (state your name), having been appointed a (rank) in the United States (branch of service), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foriegn and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the office upon which I am about to enter. So help me God.”"

So, what are they protecting, then? To me, it sounds like they are protecting all that is written in the constitution. I passed Jr High and HS Civics, believing that.

What are they protecting? Only the parts that don't refer to president?

There are a number of people mentioned in the Constitution besides the president. If the president loses the election per the Constitution and refuses to leave, he will be removed. We hold no particular allegiance to the president.

It would not likely be the military which would take this action. Most officers in the US government take similar oaths. It would likely be some federal officer.

You said the oath was to the constitution, not the president. The three branches are obligated to honor all three branches.

Perhaps you meant to say "not Donald Trump?"

I meant what I said. Our oath is to the Constitution. It is not to any particular person or group. It is really not that complicated.

It was a miscommunication. I meant the military/secret service would respect the president. You suggested they are not bound to the president. They are, though. He's the CiC.

I think you meant to say they aren't beholden to Trump.

That's the entirety of our disagreement. :)

I have no idea what you are trying to prove. We swore an oath. That oath is to the Constitution. It is not to the president. It is no more complicated than that.

This is why I don't argue with you often. You are way too OCD about precise language..

We agree on this topic, but you are on a gotcha crusade.

Some people were concerned that the military would come to the defense of Trump if he refused to leave. I pointed out one essential fact showing why it won't happen.

It appears that you are the one who is on the gotcha crusade.

To the post where I say

    You respond

Oh Gawd! QUOTE what Democrat said that Trump wouldn't leave either of his own accord or being thrown out.

Quote it, or admit that you responded to my post without reading it and/or understanding what you read.

You striking out is no surprise. But lately you've been doing it more than usual. Age or desperation?
