"President-elect Joe Biden on Wednesday urged Americans to recommit to fighting the deadly coronavirus pandemic in a Thanksgiving address ahead of the holiday.

"I know the country's grown weary of the fight. But we need to remember, we're at war with the virus, not with one another. Not with each other. This is the moment where we need to steel our spines, redouble our efforts and recommit ourselves to the fight," Biden said, speaking from Wilmington, Delaware. "Let's remember: We're all in this together."
    "

    https://edition.cnn.com/2020/11/25/politics/joe-biden-thanksgiving-remarks/index.html

This is the kind of presidential speech that the country needs. Measured, compassionate, trying to pull the country together rather than tear it apart.

Jan 20 can't come soon enough.

    Indeed. What a split screen.

On one side, a president giving the Thanksgiving Address.

On the other, someone calling an Amway convention at the Ramada, claiming election thievery to a room full of sycophants, conspiracy theorists and a delusional ex-mayor.

Interesting that virtually all politicians frame disease spread mitigation efforts as a "war against an invisible enemy" or a "battle". This is meant to obligate the whole of society as in a time of war I think.

Indeed. It’s wonderful to have a potus again who isn’t a malignant narcissist and is using the office to serve the American people instead of his own grifter family.

You are quite right. This lip service by Biden, combined with the popular sophistry that wearing a mask is a vicarious act protecting others are basic elements in the Scamdemic.

The sad part, of course, is that so many buy into it, demonstrating clearly that we have the government we deserve, urinating on the US Constitution as a society.

Give it another month and for this phony kumbaya phase to pass and leftists will be right back to calling everyone that doesn't agree with them a 'racist Nazi'. Who was it that spent 2 years trying to overthrow a duly elected President with media driven verifiably fake Russian nonsense? And who was it that spent the next 2 years torching and looting American cities, who sent their Brownshirt storm-troopers to bloody-up anyone wearing a red hat, and who used their influence in big tech and academia to silence any point of view that didn't directly align with the Communist Manifesto?

"Pull the country together rather than tear it apart". Kindly attempt to recognize how absurd a sentiment like that sounds when its expressed by a Democrat in these times. But please do change my mind. Go deal with the twin left-wing terror groups ANTIFA and BLM. Do at least that and then lets talk about coming together. Democrats should make some effort to actually do this, for once, instead of just blowing smoke about it in their victory celebrations then going right back to ramming down a radical progressive agenda that nobody wants but them. Only *spoiler alert* we can already tell from transition pledges its going to be business as usual.

"we're at war with the virus, not with one another."

No matter how many times the left says this, it doesn't excuse the vile language or disturbing actions over the last four years. I guess he wants us to forget about all of that? Lol

    So no, we aren't.

Hard pass. I'm more likely to be assaulted for wearing a MAGA hat than I am to die of the virus.

If you're not wearing a mask, you are more likely to be accosted, sprayed with pepper spray, than if you are wearing a mask.

If they EVER wanted peace, what were they doing the past 4 years? Anyone who believes these phonies probably also thinks Biden is of sound mind and doesn’t have early onset dementia.

Because Trump working with Russia is so much more believable. By the way, what happened to Trump taking away women’s rights, Gay rights, starting WW3, ect? What happened Democrats? It’s almost as if Dems just spout **** they want to happen and none of it ever does.

How can someone claiming we need to come together and be peaceful be taken serious when he spent months calling the president a racist, or working for Russia or that he is the cause of Americans dying of Covid? How can man who says we should join together ignore the violence BLM and ANTIFA causes? Ignores all the video readily available showing these people destroying cities. Spreads lies about systemic racism. NO. How can he run with a person who called HIM racist? I don’t trust a word coming out of his mouth because he says whatever he is told to say. His words aren’t his own.

Did Biden do any of those things?
For example he condemned violence by rioters.

Lol...the main purveyor of vile language and disturbing actions over the last 4 years is trump.
That’s why the American voters threw him under the bus.
He was an embarrassment to our country.

He did NOT condemn anyone specifically. He just said “rioters” and that was months after he remained silent. And guess who the rioters are? BLM and ANTIFA. HE REFUSED TO CONDEMN THEM!!! So no. Sorry. Trump condemned white Supremacy over and over again, yet the MSM kept accusing him of supporting them with a simple video edit.

I’ll go by their records. Trump had NO RECORD, yet he was accused on day 1 of taking away women’s rights, gay rights, being a war monger, Hitler, reconstituting slavery, blah blah and he did NONE OF IT!!! Obama was a bigger war monger.

No, but that's the purpose of these kind of speeches. As the Democratic-Plutocratic establishment moves right back in. "America is back"(meaning lobbyists/special interests are back in thrall), it's Biden's job to try and keep the masses wooled over to noticing that the new boss is the same(if not worse) than the old boss.

It will sound "normal", we will have our old corrupt deals again. And we will be reminded why we wanted to vote out the Plutocracy in 2016.

They’re shallow false words, written by handlers and speech writers who don’t believe them. Like I said, you can’t say we should come together when YOU spent 4 years demonizing people. Sorry. They sound nice though. Well just have to see what he does. I don’t care what he says NOW. I care about what he has said in the past about what he wants to do.

He also insinuated that a lot of things did NOT already happen that have been. So it’s hard NOT to agree with the words. But those words ring hollow coming out of his mouth considering what he has already said in the past. Sorry.

He insinuated we don’t have equality. We already do. And I don’t know what his “normal” means. Going back to ANYTHING that occurred from 08-2016 is NOT something I want to do because that’s when race relations started going to hell. That’s when cancel culture began. That’s when BLM started. That’s when white people began being demonized. That’s when cops became the enemy. That’s when our MSM lost their minds and began lying 24/7. That’s when a president began ruling by executive order with just a pen. I don’t want that kind of country.

Tired of the left and their phony hypocrite virtue signaling while ignoring what politicians on the left are doing. These are politicians that are telling the little people how they should act while doing exactly the opposite.

Once it was shown that the riots started to hit poll numbers.

Go back and look at when the two events took place (his comments on the riots and the polling showing people were tired of the riots). Almost simultaneously.

He is full of ****. He was then, and he is now. No, we don't want to be friends.

So you don’t disagree with anything he said - you just don’t think he is sincere.

I was willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt. Gave him a chance to surprise me. He didn’t, but I gave him a chance. You might consider doing the same.
