It isn't about willingness to be TOLD, it's about trusting established science, like most smart people do. Not blindly trusting everything we're told, but understanding enough of what makes reasonable and logical sense. Trusting the experts instead of conspiracy theorists and Trump's blind worshippers makes sense.

It is incredibly stupid, IMO, to ignore the established fact that masks and distancing slow the spread. It is very selfish and thoughtless, IMO, to risk the lives and health of others by not wearing one.

Nonsense analogy. Elizabeth II has no real power. Her duties are traditional and ceremonial. Great Britain is ruled by a parliamentary system of elected representatives.

We're having this surge for two reasons:

    1. Cold weather has forced most of us indoors where circulation is poor.

    2. Trump supporters and mostly the right have relentlessly refused to wear masks and instead insist on gathering in close proximity to each other in bars, restaurants, and dozens of Trump rallies.

We will continue to have infection surges as long as so many insist on remaining stubbornly ignorant and inconsiderate, until and unless we get an effective vaccine, and that still leaves us with the problem of anti-vaxxers.

Oh ffs. I was just trying to help, and at least @kriman was civil about it and not snarky like you.

And fyi, I take my own blood pressure. They do make home BP monitors, in case you were unaware.

Take your nasty snark someplace else. That was a very rude post.

    Are you effing kidding?

    :roflol:

    https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-ta...t-of-covid-19-but-for-very-different-reasons/

"Republicans accounted for 92% of those expressing skepticism or opposition to masks."

Read the article, or just go on YouTube and view video footage from protests attended by lefties and compare with Trump rallies attended by righties. Where do you see the most masks? Where do you see far fewer masks?

    This isn't rocket science.

    Why would Brazil politicize it?

Probably because Bolsonaro, the president of Brazil, is almost as deliberately ignorant as Trump. Just a guess.

Did you think left-vs-right politics was exclusive to the U.S.?

Sure it is ;) And what's, as you say "It is incredibly stupid," is to entertain the idea that a mask and social distancing will cure a pathogen!

Uh huh. My doctor doesn't take my Walgreens home monitor word for my health :) And you can be sure that "HE WILL" set up a return visit in three weeks with any change or new med's prescribe to adjust dosage and any signs of blood related toxicity/side effects..

Personal, I think your civility and advice was no help, condescending and disrespectful of Krimans health specialist. at the very least!!

Ah. Circumstance has more of an effect on the spread than wearing a mask.
You cannot demonstrate this to be true, especially to the level necessary to explain the rise in cases.

Providing a specious claim of the % of a certain kind of people who -oppose- wearing masks does not prove your claim
"Look it up" does not constitute proof of your, or any other, claim.
    This isn't rocket science.

I’m a righty and I make a point of being seen without one out and about as much as possible. I wear one where common sense or recommendation suggests it. Where it is mandated and not truly needed I openly defy it. Many of us on the right are like that. The surest way to get us to wear one is to suggest or recommend it in circumstances that warrant it. The surest way to rip a face diaper off of us is to tell us we have to do it . Period. In those cases we will openly defy them becsuse they demanded it. We will cooperate as equal citizens with our elected public servants but we will not be subjects of an authoritarian ruling by decree.

And we intend to treat and deal with your white haired dictator exactly the same as you all did to Trump. No peace. Just a flipped script. We become the resistance and you the regime defender. The battle goes on.

I expect that he will be far far worse than anything Trump did or tried to do while in office.
