One legally organized white supremacist demonstration expressing their first amendment rights (regardless of how abhorrent their views are) is not comparable to years of thuggish leftist riots, looting, violence, intimidation, destruction of businesses, attacks on police precincts, fascist autonomous zones etc.

If I may be forgiven a picayune objection, the right wants authoritarianism. Fascism is a type of politics that may best be described as Nationalism on Steroids. (and I wish somebody would supply me a better definition than that) It lends itself to authoritarianism very readily but is not necessarily or inherently authoritarian itself

I don’t think that the fact that Al Gore contested the 2000 election had anything to do with Osama Bin Laden’s timing. I think (without the knowledge of what Al Quida was actually planning at the time). We do know that the hijackers were busy with flight training in 1999.

There certainly would have been no Iraq War.

The government would have continued to run surpluses.

And the collapse of both Enron and CitiCorp, both of which were cautionary tales for what was brewing on the deregulated horizon, would have ben seen as warning signs. Perhaps the global “great recession” (nobody wants to call it a depression, even though that’s what it was), would have been a lot less severe.

Elections DO have consequences. And it is both dangerous and naive to believe that they don’t.

No, changes in government are not the end of the world. But assuming that nothing will be any different is not valid either.

Had Joe Biden run and beat Trump in 2016, the world would be a much different place.
