Interesting paper. It makes sense to me. Listening to music with lyrics about crime might lead to criminal behavior.

In a free society we shouldn't prohibit artists from using whatever lyrics they choose, but parents should be aware of what their children listen to and the effect it may have on them. In the interest of maintaining a civil society and preventing crime, should there be a public awareness campaign against these lyrics or the artists who use them? I'm thinking something like the anti-smoking ads I remember seeing as a kid.

Another strategy might be to reach out to these artists directly and encourage them to clean up their lyrics for the good of all. Do they even realize the effect they are having?

Which will get you shot has nothing to do with race and those other "innocent people" are not innocent if they pull a weapon or threaten a police officer. It's REAL simple follow the orders of law enforcement if they are attempting to take you into custody.

 

When you refuse to cooperate with the police, refuse multiple orders and are in a potentially deadly vehicle the police will and should pull their weapons on you. Friendly suggestion, don't accelerate your vehicle towards them when they do this. Quit the hate speech towards our police or more young people will commit this kind of suicide.
