BREAKING: US House votes 228-164 to pass historic bill that would decriminalize cannabis and clear the way to erase nonviolent federal marijuana convictions; bill moves to US Senate.

I don't know how the Senate will vote on this, but if they follow suit with the House GOP, this will, unfortunately, not pass.

I hope it does though. I would not want to give Biden, assuming he is the next POTUS, the chance to sign this into law. He is the architect of the drug war ( https://fee.org/articles/joe-biden-the-architect-of-america-s-disastrous-war-on-drugs/ ), and doesn't deserve to get credit for legal weed.

Eventually we will stop locking people up for having a plant. Personally, I oppose making any action, that doesn't create a victim, a crime.

The senate is a bunch of old crones who will never pass this bill.

Does anyone know Trumps stance on this ? I honestly couldn't find anything on his position ?

Which is why, although I support Trump and certain Republicans like Rand Paul, I do not consider myself one of them. I am a libertarian who recognizes the reality that most libertarian ideas are great in a perfect world, but not in the real one, kinda like liberal ideas. Utopia will never happen. Let's make things the best we can in this real world.

it would help if Trump would actually pipe in, this is Trump's loss, this could be the one positive in the history books for him

While Trump has not pursued a full-scale crackdown of state-legal cannabis programs and has voiced tentative support for modest reform legislation, his administration has made a number of hostile anti-marijuana actions—from rescinding Obama-era guidance on cannabis prosecutions to implementing policies making immigrants ineligible for citizenship if they consume marijuana or work in the cannabis industry.

Trump was wishy washy, he said he would 'probably' sign it, did not give a yes or no, thus that gives the Senate a green light to vote it down

It's about time. If the bill becomes law, the dispensaries will be able to accept bank cards as payment. They are now a strictly cash business. The banks are gonna love it. So will the customers.

yeah, I don't get it, we had a poll here and both republicans and democrats almost unanimously agreed on this, that is rare on any issue, the old republican farts in congress do not care what the people want, they think they know better

if republican block this, then in 2020, democrats should make this one of their top issues, give Biden the Senate and the chance to sign this historical bill

this is a huge loss for Trump... Senate Republicans are denying him this chance to make history, to pass a historic bill that most Americans on both sides support

if Trump doesn't fight for this, he only has himself to blame

Honestly, most people don't give a ****. It would be like asking people that don't drink to rally against prohibition.

I doubt it even reaches the floor of the Senate for a vote.

Now we get to see if Trump and the Republicans ACTUALLY believe in freedom.
