While democrats fly in planes, visit Cabo, sail on their boats, dine with Newsom, get their hair cut and do all sorts of things they don't want us to do, now you can't go for a walk in LA, but you can protest. It would seem to me, as someone who walks an hour EVERY DAY NO MATTER WHAT, that taking a walk by oneself is a lot safer than protesting in a crowd. And if protesting in a crowd is deemed to be safe, and apparently it has, then why can't a person walk by oneself? Can someone explain the logic behind Garcetti's restrictions.

You would think ordering restrictions like this while allowing protests would embarrass Garcetti. I guess people have a constitutional right to protest but not to walk. But what if they all walked in protest?

My dog an I will be protesting this abuse of power and will march for justice twice a day. Since my dog can't hold a sign, he will be expressing his opposition by leaving little Garcetti monuments along the way!

And people think a vaccine will end this insanity? HAR DEE HAR HAR! First reported cases post-vaccine and the little Stalinist wannabes will be up and running again. They LOVE their taste of authoritarianism, and ain't about to let it go without a fight.

I have to give MSNBC's Morning Joe show credit for calling out state leaders who told everyone to stay home while they jetted off to be with family. He called out both Democrats and Republicans who did this as hypocrites. I am glad this issue is bipartisan judging from the posts. We should all remember who these people are come 2022 and vote those horses a**s out of office.

That depends. How much political capital do you have and, are you a Democrat?

Sounds like they wanted to sfop all unneeded travel, not like it was targeting going for a walk

We wont arrest criminals but we will arrest you

Yes, and that is part of why your Constitution is way out of date. Protests are protected by your Constitutional right to free speech as that has seemingly been interpreted by SCOTUS.

Here is a good example of common sense.

Section 92 of our (non-existent, according to one well informed Member here) Constitution reads:

So...when States closed their borders to businessmen (and everyone else) wanting to cross borders for commercial reasons, a business man (Clive Palmer) got ants in his pants. He charged off to the High Court demanding that his right to enter a State was protected by that section. He came second. The High Court had already found that Section 92 was not absolute, and that it can be disregarded in extraordinary circumstances. The Court found that the need to defeat Covid here outweighed the need for that business man to be humoured or indulged.

Ya see, that is what POTUS ought to be doing. Telling people to get off their high horse, and work to save American lives which are being lost at an absurd daily rate of well over 2000.

It’s not just free speech, it’s freedom of association and assembly. Some people can’t associate or assemble at a place where they can eat, but Newsom can.

...and at the same time, start providing financial assistance to that bloke who is losing his livelihood because he has been shut down. That is what happened here. Here we are almost Covid free, by taking very harsh measures and also providing financial assistance to businesses and individuals financially impacted. I guess that makes us a bunch of socialist commies, ey?

We did all of this in Australia and came through the other side. However it requires an informed and cooperative populace and uncorrupted politicians.

The US will have to find a different path.

I just wanted to point out LA is a totally different world now from when that song came out.

If you dropped somebody from 1982 onto the streets of LA today, they might think they had been transported to some alternate timeline or parallel universe.
Or even that they were in some strange foreign country.

I think this is dumb as smoking bans for people smoking in their own cars or outdoors... wearing masks in businesses, sure, outdoors, no

banning walking outdoors is just dumb
