So, i am now under mandatory 4+ day quarantine. I was in California for 7 days to help my sister with her 2nd instance of breast cancer. got my first covid test on wednesday, waiting on results. if that one is negative, i get another on tuesday, and if that is negative too i can return to the world. oy.
I hear you. I too have been on quarantine this week based on my jobs' protocols. The protocols are basically if you have ANY COVID symptoms then you must get a test and quarantine. I had stomach issues on Monday morning and we agreed to wait it out until Tuesday to see if it would go away. It didn't and I was ordered to get a COVID test Tuesday. Results were negative but I was still required to quarantine until the symptoms subsided and then 72 hours afterwards I would be allowed to return to work. It hasn't been that bad seeing how I live alone and I do very little anyway but after the 2nd day I began aimlessly walking around my house at 9am wondering what the hell I was going to do for the rest of day in here....
meaning you could have it and still show negative, this is true, could be in your system, just not reproduced enough to give a positive, heck, you could catch it on the trip to get tested.....
Just last month Elon Musk felt cold symptoms and had 4 tests within a 24 hour period. 2 were positive and 2 were negative. His logical conclusion was that they are not much different than tossing a coin. Heads you have it, tails you don't.
Wrong! It means he has it. Positive test means you have it. Negative test doesn't necessarily mean you don't. It only means that either the test didn't detect it, or it was not done properly. This is why the CDC recommends quarantine even if you test negative. I'm amazed at how many on the right want to discuss the biggest health crisis in our lifetime without understanding how it works. In the end this means they have become the biggest spreaders of misinformation. This is a life-threatening emergency! It's not a debate about whether who should pay more taxes, or whether or not we should sign a trade agreement. In which if you're wrong, not much happens. This costs lives! Misinformation costs lives! If you don't know what you're talking about you have two options: find out.... or remain silent!
wrong. i am being required to quarantine because i flew to california for a week and now i am back. i had to take one test before i left and have to take another in 3 days. first test was negative, if second is also negative i get to return to society.
4 tests in 24 hours, 2 pos, 2 neg.....like everything else we've been told for the better part of a year, bullshit wrapped in dog turds. Next up...the oh so safe vaccines.
Here in France, we're under second lockdown. I couldn't go to the sport for month, I start to seriously missing it. I hope your sister is getting better.
The tests, no matter how many times you take them, are not 100 percent accurate. In fact they come with margins of 74-64 percent with a varying 10 percent error margin. Even Top Doc F who attended the nationals game with his mask off can't say they work for sure. I wouldn't worry, Ron. You and I may bicker on politics but I do wish you the best of health and am glad you are staying safe. I hope all is well
I'm talking about patients that came in contact with a Covid patient. CDC recommends 7-day quarantine even if they test negative. Because a negative test does not guarantee that you don't have the virus. But two positive tests, like the example the poster gave, most definitely means that you do.
I'm in IL and had quarantine for 14 days after a contact tested positive. Hope your results are negative.
