“After Trump officials turned down Pfizer offer, US may not get more vaccines until June”

“The Trump administration declined additional doses of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine late this summer when the pharmaceutical company offered them to the U.S. government”

“Pfizer may be unable to produce more of the vaccine for United States citizens until June 2021 because it has committed those doses to other countries.”

“The U.S. government placed an initial order of 100 million doses for Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine, and Pfizer is ready to begin shipping initial doses soon after receiving an Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA," Pfizer told ABC News in a statement.”

"Any additional doses beyond the 100 million are subject to a separate and mutually-acceptable agreement.”

So the US has enough Pfizer vaccine for only 50 million Americans, and it is the Pfizer vaccine everyone is anxiously awaiting approval?

What a dumb-*ss, that's the only vaccine I will take too?!! Trump and his administration has been totally and willfully incompetent with their handling of the pandemic?!!

Trump administration officials passed when Pfizer offered in late summer to sell the U.S. government additional doses of its Covid-19 vaccine, according to people familiar with the matter.

Now Pfizer may not be able to provide more of its vaccine to the United States until next June because of its commitments to other countries, they said.

Don’t know about sabotaging, but seemingly a f*ck up in the heralded warp speed boast

Yes, I have been biding my time before I mentioned that fantastic but nothing burger, 'Operation Warp Speed.' The only thing going at 'warp speed' right now is the Covid mortality rate in the USA. I recall posters here saying that rate will never get above 1%. Yeah, right. It is now at 3% and rising.

So the federal government didn't commit to buying more than 100 million doses.

    Buy your own.

    How? Literally in the OP
“Pfizer may be unable to produce more of the vaccine for United States citizens until June 2021 because it has committed those doses to other countries.”

Or do you think this will be something that CVS and Walgreens have an ample stock of at first?

So we get enough from Pfizer for less than one sixth of our population.

Ask your hospital to buy doses. There will be other providers, other doses. It isn't the President's job to order enough doses for every man woman and child when Congress has not budgeted him the money buy said drugs.

Because the liberals threw a fit that the US shouldn't be hoarding it so Trump had to give in.

Seriously, you folks complain no matter what Trump does.

He just said the other day that Americans should get it first and the left tore into him for that.

You folks just like to whine I'm thinking.

Right, Trump was influenced by something someone on the left said, he was worried about being political correct

Admit it, he screwed up, only explanation

I don’t believe you understand how the immediate initial distribution of these vaccines will be.

I believe you are wrong. I know that my state's cut of the initial first 100M won't even cover ten percent of essential medical personnel, let alone the dirty masses. Regardless, if Congress didn't authorize the additional purchase, then the President had no authority to buy additional doses. The US, however, has the option to buy 500 million additional doses which still wouldn't get my state's essential medical folks all vaxed up on the same distribution patterns. In addition the US government has entered agreements with other providers to acquire other vaccines than the logistically most difficult pfizer one.

Trump is about to sign an executive order saying Americans get it first.

This whole thread is just more fake news from the left and are you surprised since it's from the NYTs?

Don't worry though, you can find out when they retract it, hidden somewhere on page 36.

Wait a minute, explain to us what an Executive Order does in getting vaccine already on its way elsewhere back into the US? I’ll answer for you, nothing, strictly a political photo op for the believers, has zero impact on the circumstances

Well it shows the entire premise of this thread is a liberal lie.

Why would Trump go through substantially more effort to sign an executive order rather than just ordering more of the drug in the first place unless you are wearing your tin foil hat today.

“More of an effort to sign an Executive Order?” For real?

Trump has not only mastered the art of Executive Orders, but using them frequently, set a four year record for Executive Orders, nearly fifty a year. To him, they are photo ops, and usually amount to little more than photo ops, it is nothing for him, for you to characterize them as an “effort” is inane

His Executive Order here is a perfect example, it does nothing, did you think it actually forced all vaccine makers to now halt overseas shipments and keep the vaccines in the US?
