Has anyone taken the test found here?; https://www.politicalcompass.org/test I thought it would be fun (emphasis on fun) to see where people stand. Perhaps some would even be surprised. Disclaimer if you take this test and don't like the result it is not me making a personal attack toward you. Here's what came up for me; Your Political Compass Economic Left/Right: -3.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -6.92 It doesn't look like this means I am a Fascio-socio-communist to me and in fact when people do infer that I am of such beliefs it is extremely insulting, you might as well be calling me a terrorist.
That's been around for what seems like forever. It's entertaining, but you need more than 2 variables and 2 dimensions. I used to be able to ignore stuff, but a lot of those question simply do not have answers that fit within a multiple choice framework. It just ain't that easy.
Mine: I too have done this before and mine are always similar too. The libertarian authoritarian for me is always within half a point above or below 0. Your Political Compass Economic Left/Right: 5.25 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.46
I know, people span a wide spectrum of beliefs both individually and in relation to the population. Heck, life experiences can change a person's views, even moment to moment people have a range of emotional reactions not necessarily in line with their values. But I'm curious about the people here and this was something I stumbled on and was simple.
Good point. I have been trying to come up with a better way for a long time. What I'd like to see is a 3d graph that responds to inputs. For example, static questions could provide you with a baseline, but then throw in a problem like Covid and see how that changes your outlook on a variety of issues as the imaginary crisis worsens. Would you accept tracking the way South Korea does when things get awful? People aren't static. I'm a member of the ACLU, but in a crisis protecting lives takes priority.
If you're using a computer open a second browser and just copy and paste. I'm 47 so I don't really don't know how to do that with my smartphone yet the dang thing is smarter than me though
