    Hello.
What are the differences between a law, a legislation, a bill, and an act?

    Thanks in advance

An act and the law are the same thing and a bill and legislation are the same thing.

Bills and legislation exist until passed by congress and signed by the president whereby they become laws and acts.

Its a bit more complicated but that's essentially the differences.

Legislation/bills are proposed laws still in the process of passing through the legislature for Presidential or Gubernatorial enactment or veto. If enacted (passed by legislature and enacted by the Governor/President) then they become a law. Acts are technically bills that are passed by at least one chamber of the legislature or have been turned into law by the normal process, but often the term is most encountered in a context of some big piece of legislation that has lots of components like the Affordable Care Act or the Patriot Act. Americans are big on naming pieces of legislation, and sometimes those names arguably are intentionally misleading to make it politically more difficult for some of its opposition to vote against it.

Never heard that one. Before I google, I'm gonna guess it's Alaska's 2008 curling team and/or a political PAC from that time. :D

It means that a person or group is enthusiastically anticipating something that they have been diligently preparing for.

Because of my interest in Ancient History, I spent about 10 - 11 months walking and hitch-hiking throughout Turkey and the Islamic Mid East where I experienced only warm hospitality and generous kindness in spite of the fact that I am an obvious Westerner/American.
Because in 1973 most of the Muslims who gave me rides, provided shelter, treated me to meals etc had never met a Westerner I was considered somewhat of a celebrity and was frequently "kidnapped".

By "kidnapped", I mean that those Muslims who gave me rides insisted on introducing me to friends and family in their remote villages where my host, his friends and I would spend hours drinking tea and talking about America and other countries I had seen. My Muslim hosts were fascinated with America and all things American: American cars, American movies, everyday life in America etc.

Inevitably the topic of America's unconditional support of Israel and its ethnic cleansing of Palestine would come up.
The question I was most frequently asked was: "Why do Americans suddenly hate us?" with regard to America's "Israel First" policy.
I tried to explain the overwhelming influence of America's infestation of influential Israeli lobbies but my Muslim hosts couldn't believe that sophisticated Americans could be so easily deceived and manipulated nor can I.

In regard to your question, the Muslims do not hate the American people or even America in general. They hate America's "Israel First" foreign policy by which the Israelis can violate any UN Resolution, International Law etc and still receive $Trillions(*).
While I was only in Iran briefly, the following article will, I hope, better address your question.

"In Iran, ‘death to America’ doesn’t mean what you think"
    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/w...eans/31910553/

EXCERPT ""Death to America" expresses the anger many Iranians feel about U.S. policy toward Iran, said Foad Izadi, an assistant professor of world studies at the University of Tehran. Iranians remember that the U.S. overthrew the legitimate government of Mohammad Mossadegh in 1953 and supported the dictatorial Shah who followed.

The slogan "means death to American foreign policy," said Izadi. Iranians "have problems with the American government, not the American people." In fact, he said, Iranians are friendly to Americans. "When you walk around town, and people see you're an American, everyone wants to take care of you."

Those two sharply different understandings of the chant parallel a wider disagreement between Iran and the U.S. over foreign policy in the Middle East. The U.S. sees Iran as an aggressive power, supporting terrorism in the region. Iran calls the U.S. a superpower that threatens military attacks on Iran and its allies."CONTINUED

(*)"The Costs to American Taxpayers of the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict: $3 Trillion"
    https://www.wrmea.org/003-june/the-...israeli-palestinian-conflict-$3-trillion.html

    By Thomas R. Stauffer

EXCERPT "Similarly, aid to Israel—and thus the regional total—also is understated, since much is outside of the foreign aid appropriation process or implicit in other programs. Support for Israel comes to $1.8 trillion, including special trade advantages, preferential contracts, or aid buried in other accounts. In addition to the financial outlay, U.S. aid to Israel costs some 275,000 American jobs each year."CONTINUED

We shoved a dictator on Iran.

After he was gone, a few years later we got Saddam to go to war against Iran, a war that killed off most of a generation of males.

And then shortly after they cut a deal with us, we broke that deal without just cause.

    Are they pissed? Of course.

Anyway... death to America started around the time the Shah died. They couldn't hurt us, they were just venting, and with damn good reason to do so.

But these are Persians, an ancient and sophisticated civilisation. They don't let sentiment get in the way of sensible policy. They want a deal, and need one. Odds are, once Biden is president, we will get one, and things will be a little better for it.
