nor professional, nor honest, nor unbiased, nor a real Judge.

    Agreed.

Calling him a criminal should be grounds for impeachment. He can never again claim to be impartial. He's already proven he's not.

We all knew years ago that Trump was going to pardon his friends for their loyalty. Nobody should pretend to be outraged. It's his constitutional right.

I know the pardon power is very broad, but I wonder if he is genuinely allowed to pardon people in exchange for their loyalty. I somehow doubt it if it could be construed as obstruction of justice.

The thing is, the SCOTUS has said that you can't claim the 5th after you've accepted a pardon. They've also said that accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt.

In theory, all the people Trump pardoned could be compelled to testify against him.

Oh - to answer your question - no, there are no restrictions on the pardon power; except that he can't pardon an impeachment.

Interesting technicality but I doubt it would ever come to that.

    Right.

We don't have a strong stomach when it comes to holding elected officials accountable for crimes.

It's a grey area that suddenly becomes far less grey when the suspicion becomes evidence that a President pardoned people to cover up his own crimes. Lawsuits will be assailing this soon-to-be former President practically the moment he leaves office, or, if he stubbornly remains, is evicted from the White House grounds.

Sometimes it's just better to let the creatures between the walls squawk without hearing them.

Eh...it was an interview. A casual interview. I have confidence this judge is able to separate his personal views from professional decisions. I don't disagree with you, but I can give the judge a pass here.

But short of a clear paper trail that would be pretty hard to prove.

Bill Maher has on several occasions compared Trump to the movie Gus, where they get a mule to be their kicker because in Football the rules to specifically say the players have to be Human. Trump is Gus, if it isn’t specifically written into law, he will expose it; and traditions aren’t law.

Personally, I don't think that has any bearing on it, and if I was on the right I'd be very unhappy about this judge hearing any politically controversial case. He may indeed be able to separate personal and professional views but he has publicly tarnished his appearance of neutrality.

It's never needed codification. I think that's gonna change.

If the judge were talking about his grandchild, definitely. Talking about something that judges do daily in their professional capacity, Never.

Unless the one is a card-carrying Democrit.

No rant? Not sure why you mentioned them, then. Would you care to elaborate, because I don't know why you replied to me?

    Oh please.

The judge only proved he is bitter, biased, and unprofessional. (As many of Trump's haters seem to be.)

I think the government is a horribly inefficient, laughably wasteful and mismanaged organization... and all of that is so, so true.

If I said that to the media, I'd be fired.

Don't think I ever took issue with what he said, or maybe I did and I forget. Did I?

Or did you respond with irrelevance again?

It is not a question of tradition but of morality.

Trump is an amoral man. In fact, the only criterion that determines right from wrong is what can benefit him or not.

People are nothing more than tools that are useful to achieve a goal.

This is the very behavior of a psychopath.

The same principle applies to laws. If a law prevents her from achieving an objective, that law - or the judge who applies it - is wrong.

Who would have thought that an institution like the FBI would be dragged through the mud by a President?

The pardons are unusual. There is a section within the DOJ that does nothing but research and recommend and that list is what Presidents usually address. It’s why we see hundreds or thousands of pardons bestowed and occasionally have controversial people within.

In other words the power is usually not utilized willy nilly as appears to be now.
That is obviously what is upsetting to this judge and many others. Another capricious abuse of power by the Donald.
