I just got this news article in my email today. It adds to a previous article I'd read regarding the benefits of Vitamin D for helping the body deal with Covid 19, and this article also mentions. Constructive feedback welcome.

    **

    STORY AT-A-GLANCE
    • While health authorities and mainstream media have ignored, if not outright opposed, the use of vitamin C and other supplements in the treatment of COVID-19, citing lack of clinical evidence, a landmark review recommends the use of vitamin C as an adjunctive therapy for respiratory infections, sepsis and COVID-19
    • According to the authors, “Vitamin C’s antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and immunomodulating effects make it a potential therapeutic candidate, both for the prevention and amelioration of COVID-19 infection, and as an adjunctive therapy in the critical care of COVID-19”
    • Oral vitamin C at doses of 2 to 8 grams a day have been shown to reduce the incidence and duration of respiratory infections
    • Intravenous vitamin C at 6 to 24 grams a day has been shown to reduce mortality, ICU admission rates, hospital stays and time on mechanical ventilation in patients with severe respiratory infections
    • An international vitamin C campaign has been launched in response to the landmark review

Regardless of what the mainstream media want you to think, many are starting to realize the truth, which is that both vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and vitamin D have an enormous amount of research showing they provide important immune function enhancements, and that your immune function is your frontline defense against all illness, including COVID-19.

As reported in the paper "Optimal Nutritional Status for a Well-Functioning Immune System Is an Important Factor to Protect Against Viral Infections," published April 23, 2020:1

"The role nutrition plays in supporting the immune system is well-established. A wealth of mechanistic and clinical data show that vitamins, including vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E, and folate; trace elements, including zinc, iron, selenium, magnesium, and copper; and the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid play important and complementary roles in supporting the immune system.

Inadequate intake and status of these nutrients are widespread, leading to a decrease in resistance to infections and as a consequence an increase in disease burden."

Claiming to be a "landmark study" without even naming an actual "study" is nothing but clickbait, in my opinion.

I imagine you didn't read past the first few lines. I'll jump ahead for you, since you seem to prefer talking first and reading later:

I tend to go to the primary source rather than a commercial regulated add site.

This description of "taking your vitamins" to try to have maximum protection from disease is a "Landmark Study" was a bit overpromised, given that similar conclusion has been repeated for 30 years, at least.

    Got it.

Most people here are not going to be reading scientific papers. Mercola.com is quite useful in translating journal speak into things that the average layman can understand. Mercola's site sells things, sure- we all need to make money, and that's how the site makes theirs. You don't have to buy anything from them to read their articles. To date, I haven't, I just find the articles informative.

You tend to go to mainstream media sources, and ask no questions. You are a good subject.

Better stock up on my vitamins before there's another run on them. Every time media talks about vitamin XYZ the store shelves go bare for a month.

The exact "prescription" your "landmark study" is one of hundreds of identical "landmark studies" in the last 30 years.

All good health practices that still many large numbers of cancer and COVID to still get sick.

did you know carbs compete with the absorption of vitamin C, so if you eat tons of carbs, you need more vitamin C

and anymore ironically, OJ is mostly carbs, with fake vitamin C added back in, so if your gonna have OJ, at least squeeze your own

to get my vitamin c, I usually just have water with some Lemon or Lime squeezed in, but be sure to swish with plain water afterward, so you do not damage your teeth

    BINGO!!!

It has been known for a very long time now that Vitamins C, D, and Zinc are beneficial to one's immune system, which is what fights against viruses.

Masks, distancing, shutdowns, plastic wrap, tyranny, regulations, etc. do not stop nor prevent the spread of viruses... That's what we have immune systems for...

Upped my C,D,Zinc intake back in April and its certainly not because the MSM told me too, they have barely mentioned taking additional steps to boost your immunity.

They have mentioned masks about 120,000 times. And also that ozark super spreader pool party about 80 times.

That is because those vitamins do not stop you getting the virus - they might though make it so that it is only 15% less worse than if you had not taken them ( that’s a guess because we do not KNOW). But there is another Coronavirus that has been taking us down for years - they are some of the viruses responsible for the common cold And there IS research on these vitamins

I haven’t critiqued the article fully but knock yourself out

In all seriousness, IMO neither my local, county or state gov't have given me cause to be upset, and the National efforts have been acceptable despite the heavily partisan hootin' and hollerin' about it being botched. Way too much political BS for my taste which is why I don't even bother taking the news serious anymore, its nothing more than a massive onslaught of biased reporting and half truths, the MSM can pound sand.

They did very little to help inform, all they wanted to do is talk about dead and dying numbers, I had to dig health info up on my own.

In the meantime, St Cuomo is getting awards.
