It appears the posts on the PARLER site are running afoul of AWS ToS and Amazon doesn't think PARLER can rein in its members.

This is a good thing. This is what FB and Twitter should have been doing for the last several years. Once you let the weeds in your yard...

AWS acting to protect its brand as ang smart business will do.

    Apple did the same.

You're right. Apple and Google removed the app from their stores.

AWS is the hosting service for PARLER. You can still access PARLER on the web without the app but without hosting...

And if the big guys won't touch it (and there's good reason to believe there's not enough profit there to make it worth the press) then I don't give it a long lifespan once the hackers start going for it in some rack provider.

    Parler needs:

Its own phone operating system to stop Apple and Google blocking their app
Its own web servers to stop AWS blocking their servers
Its own payment processing company to stop Mastercard and Stripe blocking their payments

Presumably they could use cash for payments.

Trumpers don't know how to react to this yet now that their messiah can't communicate with them.

They will have to do what other world terrorist groups do to communicate. Internet underground.

I thought it was free to use but they will need some way to monetize so membership fees are a possibility.

Obviously Amazon can do what she wants in this situation. However I have already found people worried that Trump is going to be used to take away a lot of free speech and thought rights. Would it not be better to make what is needed against the law - and in that it would obviously need to be worth being against the law. Then it would minimise the almost certain banning of people with different political opinions to those wanted by the people currently in power.

I thought this would be a nice spot to quote this. Mafia anyone?

"...On Thursday, in what was the most recent and possibly the most egregious example, Randall Lane, Forbes’ chief content officer, announced that Forbes Media was “holding those who lied for Trump accountable” in what he called “a truth reckoning.”
How does he know that what Trump said is a lie if the States in question refused to allow the Dominion machines to be examined? Even today some of the ballots were going to undergo a forensic examination, and the FBI grabbed them and took them to the shredder. What are they afraid of?

"...Lane alleged that the president’s “lies-upon-lies, repeated frequently and fervently, provided the kindling, the spark, the gasoline” that led to the attack.
You would think he's talking about the 4 years of the Russiagate lies and the Steele Dossier. Oh well!

"...Acting more like a Mafia don than a media executive, Lane then threatened future employers: “Hire any of Trump’s fellow fabulists above, and Forbes will assume that everything your company or firm talks about is a lie.”

"...Forbes is seriously diminished by such cancel culture rantings, considering it has long been considered a respected business publication of its creator, B.C. Forbes, a tradition carried on by the late Malcom S. Forbes, and his son Steve, one of the country’s most noted conservatives. Steve Forbes has been a strong supporter of Trump’s, endorsing in both 2016 and 2020.

The irony is explained by the fact Steve and the Forbes family no longer own Forbes the media company. In fact, Forbes Media was sold six years ago to Integrated Whale Media Investments, which is based in Hong Kong, and which has since become a territory of mainland Communist China..."

Forbes wasn’t the first to threaten future employers of Trump White House staffers. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez suggested shortly after the November election that someone should begin compiling a list of Trump White House staffers.

    I repeat: Mafia anyone?

Then Nazis are not those who throw out threats and curb free speech. Thanks for telling me.

    Free market capitalism.

Corporations get to make, and enforce their own rules. If you dont like them, you can go somewhere else.

You would not be saying this if it was Democrats being censored.

I remember when you all freaked out over a baker refusing to serve certain people. You all wanted the baker fired. Now your on the other side of the fence because it fits your political agenda.

They shut down Parler for this reason.

So that's better than pronouncing their bad acts online for the FBI to easily find, and then remove the post and user? They still have Twitter to do it though so I am not too worried. They probably won't get banned though unless its right wing terrorism or insurrection.

    Why wouldn't I?

No, I didn't. IMO bakers should be free to choose their customers.

Your "either you support Trump's insanity, or you are a partisan Democrat". It is a partisan mindset and typically misses the mark.

I am not a Democrat, but Trump took his lunacy to a whole new level, and I don't blame these platforms banning him. Anyone who violates their rules should be banned.

Look ar Parler. People are calling for violence, and even murder. Why would you want to be associated with them? I sure would NOT.

We should not give credence to anyone promoting violence but I’ve yet to see what Parler’s violations are. Anyone know?

Sounds an awful lot like predatory monopoly power being exercised to shut down dissent. Gosh. Like China.

Why would it be a good idea to drive these generalized venting threats underground? People from the left do the same thing on Twitter and Facebook everyday.

This isn’t a free market. Government via section 230 has skewed the market in favor of those who choose to stifle free speech.

I'd say that Parlor has an excellent chance of taking Apple, et al as well as AWS to court for acting in a predatory way to stifle their competition. Let's get to some old fashioned monopoly breaking. And isn't that what Trump said he was about to do? Gosh. liberals are so predictable. Their willingness to suppress and censor speech....

Then you see nothing wrong with blacklisting and threatening people who disagree with you? Interesting!

I guess then you see nothing wrong with this? The reporter works for the Polish American Brotherhood, and during the march of Antifa they began attacking and harassing her, and calling her a Nazi. Liberal tyranny? I think so! But then again NYC is now a Democrat city, so can one expect differently?
