How about some personal choice & responsibility.
You may choose to "duck & cover" or not.

Is it time to end the locksown?

    Consider:
    https://www.yahoo.com/news/under-cover-darkness-hundreds-skiers-141024656.html
Under cover of darkness, hundreds of skiers secretly escaped from COVID-19 quarantines at a resort in the Swiss Alps

    • More than 400 British tourists in Verbier, a popular ski resort in the Swiss Alps, were told to quarantine for 10 days as authorities sought to control the spread of a new coronavirus variant recently discovered in the UK.

    • But the British holidaymakers quickly began to disappear. By Sunday, fewer than a dozen remained, authorities told the German news outlet Deutsche Welle.

    • Hoteliers in the Alpine village realized something was wrong when meals were left outside rooms uneaten and phones went unanswered, The Guardian reported.

    • "Many of them stayed in quarantine for a day before they set off unnoticed under cover in the darkness," said Jean-Marc Sandoz, a representative for the municipality of Bagnes in Canton Valais.

Time to end the lockdowns? Only China made them work by means no western nation would accept.

I voted no, it's better for my local economy if other states bugger up their economy and people of means move here.

So, have at it, lock that **** down!

~ Notice that "open" states like Florida & Texas have fewer COVID deaths than draconian lockdown states like New York and California .

Only China has benefited from a Lockdown
    and it was authoritarian tough.
The West faces surges with each liberation

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/one-since-coronavirus-emerged-wuhan-124536701.html
A year since Covid emerged, Americans in Wuhan are afraid again โ€” for the U.S.

WUHAN, China โ€” Benjamin Wilson, a Louisiana native who lives in the Chinese city where the Covid-19 virus was first identified a year ago, is watching the unfolding crisis back home with disappointment.

"I would be very afraid if I were living in the States," said Wilson, who has lived in Wuhan, the sprawling capital of Hubei province, for almost two decades. "I didn't really think that I would be where I'm at now, worried more about my family than myself."

The contrast between his homeland and his adopted home is stark, the English teacher said. Although he endured more than 70 days of strict lockdown, that at times made him feel almost "imprisoned," being shuttered indoors was a sacrifice that has paid off, he said.

    Lockdown China style or don't

I am not really lockdowned in any meaningful way. There is a pointless curfew when most people are at home anyway. There are other rules like limits on gatherings that nobody really enforces. Most stores don't even enforce the masks except as to their own employees. Having "lockdowns" doesn't burden me any more and not having them won't be some big sigh of relief. Other than getting my hair cut shorter just before barbershops were shutdown early on and then it being a little longer than normal by the time I could get it cut again, these rules haven't impacted me. For that reason, I feel like maybe they weren't aggressive enough early on and now they are pointless.

It would also demonstrate that there is a rule of law. It would demonstrate that science and empirical evidence actually drive public policy.

Nope, 1226 deaths today in the UK.
Most likely aided by the relaxation of the lockdown just before Christmas.
I'm not feeling oppressed, I don't feel like any minor freedoms I may have lost are not justified in the face of over 80,000 total deaths.
I wish we'd locked down harder and that more people had fully complied.

Florida and Texas have been the masters of "Lockdown BS".

Look at places where states like Florida send their state cops to shutdown a data researcher is following actual deaths on her own after being fired after refusing to manufacture false data at the orders of the Governor.

When she is maintaining the public data ON HER OWN FOR FREE, the Republican Governor had the state raid on her own home (with her children inside) and took her public data!

The Republican Governor wanted to let everyone in that state to not tell the truth who the Republicans are killing to keep their money rolling in!

Well, since our lockdowns have come too late and been too poorly observed it is hardly surprising that they take a while to have the desired effect.
As for forcing lockdowns on others, me choosing to sacrifice my freedoms for the good of all is negated by those who choose selfishness and refuse to do the same. Some have pointed out that education is better than enforcement when it comes to compliance but since only the wilfully ignorant can now be unaware of the reasons behind lockdowns I call BS.
Choosing to lockdown or not is no more a matter of personal freedom than choosing to drive at 100mph or under the speed limit in a school zone.
