Why should we? You DO realise don’t you that brain dead patients will have a heart beat even after the ventilator has been removed?

That may be, but these fetuses with a heartbeat are not entirely brain dead.

Would we apply the same standards to these preborn fetuses that we would to determine if a hospital patient is brain dead?

In other words the people concerned behaved pretty much the way a group of anti-abortionists would behave if someone turned up at one of their meetings and decided to broadcast sounds of a termination being performed in real time i.e. a dispute ensued. Your point, assuming you have one?

    What about the heartbeat?

You haven't stated a point yet....

HOW TF would I know your point if you never say what it is?

IF you had one maybe you could say what it is...…

:) BTW,if a fetus could sing and dance and do arithmetic it still wouldn't have any rights...

deranged people on both sides, but glad this woman was able to make the choice for herself and the government did not decide for her - anyone that supports our freedoms and small government would agree

Are you aware of EXACTLY when a fetus develops nerve endings?

I don't think it's really fair for you to compare those two.

Pro-choicers would have no problem listening to an unborn baby's heartbeat, if it wasn't within the context of abortion.
(i.e. if they showed up to a baby shower and the soon-to-be mother wanted to play them a tape of the sound)

A heartbeat is not what defines a human being. Animals have heartbeats too.

I don't believe we should take the pregnant women's choice away from here

she made her choice, the government should not be choosing for her

same for those that choose not to have a baby

this mother did not want to abort her already born child, she did not have enough money to keep him alive - what did republican do? pass laws to abort him of course

Yet Conservatives claim that they are the Pro-Freedom-Party. To me it really is an absolute shame and a sad reflection of contemporary politics when it is the Democratic Party(!!!) who look like Madison on all issues concerning Individual Rights in comparison to their Republican rivals who claim to love the Constitution.

Heck, the Republicans cannot even defend capitalism.

The GOP is such a worthless party and if I was an American citizen and I was forced to vote at gunpoint, I would probably vote Democrat and I am a person who wants full, laissez-faire capitalism, tiny government and individual rights. The GOP stands for none of these and least the Dems somewhat respect individual freedom. At least as far as sex life, marriage, religion in the classroom and drugs go.
