    https://www.tmz.com/2021/01/14/abraham-lincoln-bust-removed-white-house-president-honest-abe/

Video sourced by C Span has been picked up by several media outlets and twitter feeds shows what appears to be US property being illicitly removed from the White House.

Some folks, presumably members of the Press or former or current White House staff have identified the bust as that of Abraham Lincoln, located atop a stone pillar in the East Garden Room prior to the video showing its removal from the property.

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/politics/white-house-missing-lincoln-bust

The Washington Examiner article also features Peter Navarro leaving with a framed photo and an unknown woman stashing a stuffed pheasant into a car.

Looks like the Washington Examiner is engaging in some whataboutism to me.

Look Navarro is taking something, and a lady is taking a stuffed pheasant!

Ah, promises of the best people, promises kept?

    Is anyone surprised?

The Trump Family and Associates = Grifters and Thieves.

    And, even a Stuffed Pheasant?

    Truly Birds of a Feather.:flagus:

Is it possible the items are gifts Trump received and have been passed on to staffers?

The C Span video I think only captured the alleged theft of a Lincoln bust. The Washington Examiner article in my opinion is gaslighting. Navarro is welcome to his framed portrait of his fantasy of he and Trump getting tough on China and lady whatever with a stuffed pheasant.

If the description of the bust is accurate, then no, it is not possible that it was a gift or previously owned by Trump.

Saw they are likely on loan from a museum and are being returned.

Yes, the bust is interesting. If it’s documented to be property of the Park Service that’s clearly theft. So far I’ve not seen that documentation.

This was supposed to have been handled better by the Parks Service after the Clintons carted off a mixture of personal property and Park property with some of the Park property lacking proper documentation and part of the personal property being valued incorrectly.

The “left” will use this just like the “right” did with the Clintons. And the media will provide us with a mixture of fact and fiction to make sure everyone stays mad about it.

It was a reporter speculating on twitter.

Well, a reporter “speculating” is probably more accurate than one on the record. There’s at least the off chance they could happen to be correct. :)

It seems bizarre for them to be carrying a framed picture by itself. I'm pretty sure we tax payers can afford some appropriate boxes for framed items. Looks too staged.

Is it supposed to be a red herring while they pack up items they aren't supposed to have?

That’s all conjecture. I don’t believe everything the media wants me to believe.

Items such as the Lincoln sculpture were on loan from the official White House collection and part of a documented process wherein thousands of pieces of art, decorative art, sculpture, china, silver and other items are historically preserved.

The sculpture seen in the video leaving the west wing is most certainly not the John Gutzon piece from the East wing. It resembles one located in a west wing hallway, seen here at the 0:40-0:42 mark of this video.

The base of the sculpture in the west wing tour video above appears to be oak. The base of the sculpture leaving the west wing appears to be cherry. Could be the lighting, but I don’t think so. Here are enlarged stills from the linked West Wing tour first and the “stolen” one second.

Anyway, the John Gutzon piece in the East wing is a cast replica of the original marble bust created by Gutzon that resides at the capital building. It’s in the East wing and looks like this.

This is the copy at the Lincoln Tomb in Illinois I believe. There are other copies from the same mold at Berkeley and Chicago Historical Society.

The sculpture seen exiting the White House is not the Gutzon piece.

I can’t find information on the origin of the sculpture on the table in the west wing hallway.

The statue reportedly is being returned to the museum from whence it came. The rest of the stuff reported seems to be personal minutiae.

I agree. Trump is mostly interested in stuff about himself, so I think he wouldn't be inclined to steal stuff that is about anyone else. Melania on the other hand....

I google the OMG TRUMP!!!! threads that smell fishy, like many of them do, looking for more objective reporting. Found an article stating the statue was being taken back to the museum. I have read in the past that the First Families are assisted in decorating the WH for themselves by being told what art pieces are there, and which ones would be available to them from museums to make it feel more like "theirs" for the length of their stay. If there is a particular piece they would like that is not in the standard inventory, a curator tries to work with the owner/holder to borrow it if possible.

Seems a strange way to take an object, which I presume would be worth something, back to a museum. Who would be responsible if he dropped it or chipped it while getting into the car. Does seem suspicious.

That should be a far more plausible explanation for the video footage, but the first reaction of theft is now baked into the trump administrations legacy.
