I am something of a "rightie" but what I am proposing would actually substantially expand a woman's range of choice..... and decrease the economic pressure on a woman to feel economically pressured to choose to have an abortion......... even if her preference wuold be to have and raise her baby if she felt that she could afford to do so.

I am hoping that this idea catches on with both the political right and the political left for somewhat different reasons.

Would a Basic Minimum Income dramatically reduce abortions?

It's obvious he was saying he was glad he wasn't aborted.

Yes, believe it or not, the majority of persons who happened to have been conceived in rape, are happy to be alive and are glad they were not aborted in their mother's wombs.

He was comparing being conceived in rape to being African American, with the point that being conceived in rape doesn't make a human being worth any less.
This applies to the unborn too -- having been brought about from the result of rape does not make a fetus worth inherently less than another fetus who came about from consensual conception.

Tell that to the Anti-Choicers who say they would make an exception to abortion in the case of rape.

I ask them "why?" and they never seem to have an answer....( I know why but it's fun to see them stymied once again)

A fetus's "worth" is determined only by the woman it's in....:)

Yes, which is why this thread has no point and not much to do with abortion rights or laws....or.... abortion...
