At the advice of white house counsel, who warned him of potential legal liability, Trump did a video to calm everyone down, and declare that those who attacked the capitol would be punished.

I think we are going to watch Trump throw his fans under the bus, he's thrown just about everyone else under it.

Jenna Ryan, a Texas real estate broker who took a private jet to Washington to join the attack on the US Capitol, has pleaded with Donald Trump to pardon her after she was arrested by federal authorities.

After surrendering to the FBI on Friday, Ryan said: “We all deserve a pardon.”
“I’m facing a prison sentence,” she told CBS11 at her home. “I think I do not deserve that.”
Turning to look into the camera, she said: “I would ask the president of the United States to give me a pardon.”

On Wednesday, Trump was impeached for inciting the attack on 6 January that left five people dead, including a police officer, and sent lawmakers fleeing for their lives. Ryan said she had been “displaying my patriotism”, adding: “I listen to my president who told me to go to the Capitol.”

I thought conservatives were big on holding people accountable for their action? Seems the conservatives arrested for rioting at the Capitol don’t share that philosophy.

As they say, don't do the crime if you can't do the time. Now maybe Biden might pardon some of them, maybe.

Of course Trump won't pardon these people. He has an impeachment trial coming up. What I wonder is how many of these worshippers will continue to worship Trump from federal prison.

A prisoner trade would be welcomed.

The 'icing on the cake' for Donald Trump in his bewildering last two days would be if he pardons those who illegally invaded the Capitol, smashed things up, killed a police officer, and generally BROKE THE LAW! Please, President Trump, do not do this!

I agree beyond "100%" that the 'MAGA-hat people' should be given the very SAME legal treatment as the ANTIFA/BLM mobs have been given for their violent, rioting rampages all during 2020 -- but THAT is something that should be done by the courts.

Afterthought: just how MANY of the ANTIFA/BLM mob rioters were, in fact, ever charged with anything...? Is everyone being treated EQUALLY UNDER THE LAW...?!
