On January 20th, when he leaves the White House, Trump wants a red carpet and a 21-gun salute.

Apparently, Trump feels that he deserves a red carpet and a 21-gun salute for these accomplishments:

    - He told more lies in four years than any other president in our history.
    - He was the divider-in-chief for four years.
    - He eliminated a lot of capable people in our government who were dedicated to serving the American people.
    - He appointed a lot of swamp creatures to “serve” in his government. And he is the swamp-creature-in-chief.
    - He took credit for the good economy that he inherited from Obama/Biden.
    - He pardoned convicted criminals, and set them free so that they can be free to commit more crime.
    - He tried to undermine programs that help the poor and the middle class, in order to pay for his tax breaks that were designed to further enrich the rich, and to further enrich himself.

    - He sided with Putin against our allies. And he tried to undermine the Western Alliance.
    - He sided with Putin against our intelligence agencies. And he tried to undermine those agencies.
    - He broke the Iran Deal (a deal that he did not understand), and now Iran is ramping up its nuclear program.
    - His “negotiation” efforts to denuclearize North Korea brought us to the brink of nuclear war with that country. And now North Korea is ramping up its nuclear program. (On the upside, he does get lover letters from Kim.)

    - He conducted a war on science. For example:
    >He derided and harassed our government scientists, and he forced many of them out of their jobs.
    >He denigrated scientists on the Covid issue, and he ignored their advice on that issue.
    >He denigrated scientists on climate change, and he ignored their warnings on that issue.

    - He conducted a war on the environment. For example:
    >He gave the go-ahead to everyone to pollute our air and our water.
    >He told future generations that they are “on their own” with climate change.

    - On the Covid issue:
    >He promised that it would be over by Easter (that was his “Easter Bunny” plan to combat the virus).
    >He promised that it would magically go away (that was his “pixie dust” plan to combat the virus).
    >Using his “good brain”, he came up with what he thought were breakthrough ideas for cures. For example: bleach, rubbing alcohol, and light bulbs. (WARNING: Do not try this at home!)

    - He tried to rig the 2016 election in his favor by asking for help from WikiLeaks and the Russians.
    - He also tried to rig the 2020 election in his favor. For example:
    >He tried to coerce the Ukrainians to dig up phony dirt on the Bidens.
    >Because he thought that it would disadvantage Biden and the Democrats:
    >>He tried to con us into believing his phony claim that mail-in voting was rife with fraud.
    >>And he destroyed millions of dollars of our Post Office equipment, in order to impede mail-in voting.

And apparently, Trump feels that he deserves a red carpet and a 21-gun salute for these accomplishments:

    - With respect to Covid:
    >He lied to the American people by downplaying the danger of the Coronavirus, when he KNEW that the virus was EXTEMELY dangerous and EXTREMELY contagious. And he did so for his political benefit.
    >And then he deliberately mismanaged the Covid response. That is: he ignored the advice of our healthcare workers and our medical scientists; and he made decisions that benefited him politically, but harmed the American people.
    >As a result, more American livelihoods and lives were lost than there had to be.

Note: All of this is consistent with the book entitled “Everything Trump Touches Dies” which was written by a Republican strategist.

    - With respect to the 2020 election:
    >He lied to the American people by claiming that the election was stolen from him, when he KNEW that there was NO evidence that the election was stolen from him.
    >And then he repeatedly tried to steal the election from Biden. That effort included a bunch of lawsuits which were dismissed, because his lawyers could NOT produce any evidence that the election was stolen from him.
    >And then he and a bunch of Republicans incited a pro-Trump radical right Republican mob to viciously attack our Capitol, where they caused terror, destruction, and death, and where they planned to cause even more death, all in order to make Trump happy. (And as we know, he watched it on TV, and it DID make him happy.)
    >And then he put our ENTIRE nation under the threat of more pro-Trump mob violence, on and around Biden’s inauguration.

Note: All of this is consistent with the “Everything Trump Touches Dies” book.

And apparently, Trump feels that he deserves a red carpet and a 21-gun salute for these accomplishments:
    - He created the greatest mess in American history for Biden to clean-up.
    - And he has tried to impede, and to block, Biden’s efforts to clean-up that mess.

It’s like he started a huge and destructive fire, and then he tries to stop the fire fighters from putting out the fire.

Trump’s fans wanted him to “breaks things”, and he did that. Unfortunately for the rest us, he didn’t have the know-how, the focus, or the energy, to fix what he broke. And now it’s up to Biden to fix everything that he broke ... and Biden has a lot to fix. I hope that Trump, and his radical right Republican sycophants and mob, stay out of the way.

I’m sure that MOST of us feel that Trump does NOT deserve a red carpet and a 21-gun salute. And that instead, he deserves a ONE-WAY ticket out of the White House. And that he deserved his two impeachments.

Unfortunately, our nation could be living in fear of more pro-Trump violence for MANY months to come. (And that would be consistent with the “Everything Trump Touches Dies” book.)

I’ve often wondered what Trump and Putin talked about in their private one-on-one meetings, and why Trump had any notes from those meetings destroyed. Was Putin was giving him how-to lessons in tyranny?

When I retired from the Air Force, I was asked if I wanted a parade. It would not have been just for me. It would have been for whoever retired that month. I declined.

I would not want a parade, red carpet or twenty one gun salute for myself. However, Trump has not been convicted of anything. At this point he is just as entitled to those honors as any other president leaving the office.

I am sure many would wave at him, if he would do the adult thing and attend Biden's inauguration. But, then, he is a whiny little child, who has difficulties with sharing attention and acknowledging someone else's success.

Trump, having been warned about the seriousness of COVID, made COVID's impact far worse than it could have been with his incompetently lead federal government response. Your assertion about the economy has also been thoroughly debunked hundreds of times. https://www.politifact.com/factchec...-trumps-dubious-statement-about-presiding-ov/

Not only was the strength of the economy not what he has claimed it to be, the improvements it did experience can be traced to a massive tax cut. One that largely benefited the 1% and corporations...........representing unprecedented deficit spending at a time of relative prosperity. The cut came at a time of about 2% GDP growth, temporarily boosted GDP (but not as much as was promised), and returned to 2% once the effects wore off. Yet another failure/unfulfilled promise.

Every economic achievement has come at the expense of an enormous increase in the national debt.

Grow the economy by 4 percent a year
    Donald Trump

“We're bringing it (the GDP) from 1 percent up to 4 percent. And I actually think we can go higher than 4 percent. I think you can go to 5 percent or 6 percent.”

Trump leaves office with a 0.4% average GDP number. Worse than Carter or Obama.
Trump leaves office with higher unemployment than when he took office.
Trump leaves office with higher National Debt increase in 4 years than Obama had in 8 years.

And THIS is the Legacy of the Trump years ...

Doesn't matter. Every President has problems. History doesn't just erase them because they were caused from
outside sources - or does Carter erase the Hostage Crisis and Obama get to erase his first year numbers because the
recession was already in full swing when he took office?

Nope. Trump will be remembered for Covid and THIS. It is his legacy just like the Iranian Hostage Crisis was Carter's ..

Can you provide a citation, please?

Because all the big blue states shut down their economies and threatened small business people with violence and the seizure of their assets and business licenses. Now wouldn't ya know it, they're magically going to re-open... and Wuhan, China Corona Pandemic of 2019 numbers are worse that they've ever been. The Don had record LOW unemployment before the Wuhan, China Corona Pandemic of 2019.

Because we handed out hundreds of billions of dollars to fund things like gender studies in Pakistan.

Trump never got above a 2.9% GDP even before Covid.
Trump was on his way to tying Obama's Debt spending even before Covid.
Trump signed off on every spending bill.

He hasn't been convicted but he has been found responsible for an insurrection of our democracy. You still think he's entitled?

Fake News. We don't have Trump's 4th year yet, but, we do have his first 3 and he averaged 2.5%

Fake News. Obama averaged 1.6% Trump walloped Obama's dismal performance by 54%
Fake News. We don't have his final year numbers yet, but, Obama grew the Federal Debt from 67.97% to 104.24% and increase of 53.36%.

Under Trump it grew from 104.24% to 105.77% an increase of a mere 1.47%

And THIS is the Legacy of the Trump years ...

Yes, Trump's record stacks up splendidly against Dumb and Dumber's and after Biden's done continuing Obama's "New Normal", Trump's record will stand out like a majestic mountain between two dismal piles of crap.

Following historic Trumpian tax reform and regulatory restraint, grateful American workers experienced the largest wage gains ever recorded.

In 2019, real household income reached an all-time high by growing $4,400 (a 6.8% one-year increase). The income gains were largest for minorities and lower-income earners, and as a result, income inequality declined.

Now Biden and a Democrat Congress wants to raise taxes and bring back regulatory barriers that steal worker freedom, investment, and employment.

The Obama/Biden approach relies on programs that have failed for decades and will require taxes that increase costs and decrease wages for all Americans. But, after voters soundly repudiate Democrats in 2022 the GOP can start the long task of restoring the economic fortunes of the Broad Based American Working and Middle Class.

You need a court to find someone responsible? So I take it you don't think he's responsible for anything that happened.

To find them guilty, yes. It does not make any difference what I believe. Legally, he is just as entitled as any other president.

Technically you are spot on. Morally I don't think he should do it but that's just me. If the march on the Capitol hadn't taken place then it would have been alright, but given his involvement, he's lucky not to be hauled away in handcuffs once his term is up.

If he wants it, he is entitled to it.
In very rough numbers, his chances of becoming president were roughly one in ten million. Not too bad for a loser.

Yes. He is president. He is entitled to a twenty one gun salute and all the other honors given to presidents when they left office.
