    You really should.

We have a greater ability to treat brain injuries but that's not a good argument for not wearing a motorcycle helmet.

No. Personal choice is the argument there.

It’s unfortunate that individual liberty is not a valued concept any more with people like you.

Maybe for you without socialised medicine but even then you may be depriving a patient of a doctor due to your selfishness.
With rights come responsibilities. That's a point many seem to miss.
If you refuse to wear a helmet you should be refused treatment for any head injury you get.

No. I can see an insurance company refusing to pay for your treatment if you don’t wear a helmet, but in what world should you be refused treatment if you can pay for it? Your position is idiotic. You guys are totalitarian tyrants.

A world with a finite amount of head injury specialists.
If you won't wear a helmet then you can get to the back of the queue for treatment.

The same argument could be made about speed limits. There will always be something that kills people, but so long as that someone is not me then civil rights outweigh the risk.

So how many people would have died without the draconian measures?
I refer back to my speeding analogy. Very few people are killed each year by speeding cars, so lets remove the draconian speed limits.

You might want to look that up, there was wide spread quarantines during the Spanish flu epidemic, they were disorganised because of the war effort and because the plague was played down for fear that the military machine would stop.

    It's not rocket surgery.
We didn't know how to make vaccines during the Spanish flu.

I hear through the grapevine that those COVID-19 shots take a couple of months to take effect. I'm right am I?

No, they start to take effect after two days, which is why you feel ill. They are pretty much fully effective in 10 days.

Yes. The reason you feel ill after a day or so is that the vaccine mimics the virus. In response your body raises your temperature and increases production of white cells, this is what makes you feel ill.
Your body then takes up to 14 days to produce enough white cells to offer you immunity, though in most cases its 7 to 10 days.
Your body also produces T cells, these act as early warning agents of future infections, but these are only produced in numbers after a second virus attack. Hence the need for the second vaccine.

Do you have a link for this?
I know @557 is interested in T-cell immunity.

I will try and find something, but that was not a link, it was something I know.

I think 557 already knows about T cells.

I’m interested in all immunity. When fading first wave antibodies were the “cool narrative” I spent a lot of time emphasizing research on T cell immunity. When memory B cells were finally discovered in convalescent Covid cases I spent time trying to get people to care about them because they are essential to long term natural and vaccine induced immunity. There is little interest from society in anything about immunity that doesn’t fit some political narrative.

Our immune systems are amazing systems we don’t really understand well at all. We’ve discovered titers of naive T cells before exposure to SARS-CoV-2 influence severity of C19 but we don’t understand why. Nor do we know all the reasons naive T cell titers differ in individuals.

In short, even real experts in the field know little of all the intricacies and interconnectedness of the various components of our immune systems. But what we do know fascinates me.

Partly its just stuff I know and partly from friends. My wife was a senior neurological radiographer for about 30 years, so many of our friends are doctors and consultants.
