I thought Parler had this in the bag and would sue Amazon back to the stone age once they won? All of the evidence presented during discovery did not make Parler look good at all.

That's proof big tech isn't out to silence conservatives if blm and antifa use that site too.

I don't recall anyone complaining about radical left wingers using that just, they only biatched about conservatives. blm and antifa are casualties of the cause. Besides, as we've seen in Portland, the blm and antifa terror groups still manage to organize themselves and no one is complaining about finding out what they're using to communicate and shutting it down.

I don't think he thought that one all the way through... LOL

It's not actually a 1st amendment right to have your site hosted....

I wonder why James Madison didn't cover that??

You missed this little gem from the article

    SNIP
An attorney for Parler wrote that the last six Web hosts the company has approached have refused to work with the site.

It's actually a very scary reality. Moving towards totalitarian China is not a positive development, and that courts are backing it is also not a good development. Frankly, this is the world we live in post-Donald Trump. Our only opportunity to repeal these mistakes is 2024.

The judge didn’t site any law, tradition, or a legal precedent for the ruling. That opens the door for an appeal.
I don’t think Parler has a case in forcing Amazon into providing them with service, and ultimately they will lose this case. But, if Parler were to have a good estimate of the loss of marketing revenue caused by Amazon’s abrupt termination of the hosting contract, then they should be able to hold Amazon liable for the losses caused by their actions. Amazon has a ton of cash, forcing it to pay a large sum to Parler is a real possibility.

I think current lawsuit is a PR stunt, the real one will probably emerge in several months after they can properly account for the losses.

Here are some examples of some posts on parler...

If you could fine the equivalent of BLM/ANTIFA calling for similar violence, that would be helpful.

I think people should click on your PDF link of Exhibit E which is a 67 page document with many examples of the violent content on Parler. I have been on Parler and seen similar content but never summarized together like this before. You see the same type of stuff if not worse on the imageboards.

Courts ruling on the side of true internet neutrality is freedom. If the government can(through companies as a proxy) control speech, it's over in America.

Before social media/internet, it was a lot harder to control speech. Yes. Now, it's a lot easier, more subtle and now with wink and nods. Now let's be clear: I don't have to approve of violence, bigotry and racism while also acknowledging the dangerous game we're playing with the social media moguls heavily leaning towards a political ideology and not so much even scale on extremists on both sides.

Didn't a recent ruling a few years ago rule against net neutrality?

    Government to isn't controlling speech.

News media always controlled it. That's why there's many media outlets.

    Lolwut?:roflol:

"it's over in America" seems rather Hyperbolic.

Just b/c Domestic Terrorists can't plan their attacks on Parler, that doesn't mean that "it's over in America".

Nobody's "speech" is being "shut down".

They can write letters, make telephone calls, etc.

If people are incapable of functioning within a Social Media Site's TOS...
Then, they can go somewhere else or invent their own.
    ^Problem solved.

And you illustrate the point in pointing that out. Although we say we're committed to these things as a principle, we're not really committed to them. As long as the government doesn't 'officially' act against it, society can act against these ideals with impunity is basically what the Left wit large is saying.

So yeah, can we please drop the 'democracy' facade lol.
