I stumbled across this video while browsing youtube and thought it was a very interesting watch. This video is a few months old but this is the first I have ever heard of CANZUK. It discuss the union between Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK and how their joining would form a huge economic power. Watching the video, the idea seems to make a lot of sense. What would be some of the downsides of such an union? Would they choose to use a single currency like the pound or CAD? After leaving Brexit would the UK be prepared to join another union?

I don't see anything negative about it.

Throw in India and that's the Commonwealth. We already have many ties together.

I have been watching some more Canzuk videos since the first one I posted and this one mentions why countries like India, South Africa and Pakistan would not be included.

I actually quite like the concept, but it needs to be done without too much focus placed on history I think if the Liberals in Canada are to get in board. I have already seen nutty cries against it for being “white-centric”. Having India in it would avoid that woke hurdle.

The video you linked to addresses this by saying including India would mean too much immigration... and that line will only come off to the woke as “too many brown people”

Canada already has massive immigration from India anyway. We have almost as many Punjabis now than remain in Punjab.

Amazingly, 1/5 Canadians were not born in Canada. If supporters in the other countries of CANZUK know this and don’t care, that in itself should show CANZUK isn’t racist.

I kind of agree with the video I posted on the reasoning though. India has a huge population and the standard of living is much lower than the other four countries. If they allow freedom of movement the mass migration could cause many social economic problems in those other countries. Delhi alone has a population of 30 million people. That is more than Australia and New Zealand combined. It is almost the entire population of Canada. Those countries would not have the infrastructure in place to be able to support all the new people that would move there.

Canada has a lot of land. What if we give the northwest territory to India?

In all seriousness though, I agree. Such an alliance should start with CANZUK and branch out with other alliances from there.

    8) India is very hot and I think the Northwest Territories are very cold. I can imagine a whole routine from Russell Peter jokes on the subject.

We're getting the band back together?
Bring in the US. We're much better off in cohort with our cousins than anyone else.

    I don't want a Union, I want independence and a republic.

I am reminded of the old Jefferson pearler: peace, trade and honest friendship with all, entangling alliances with none.

I truly do not understand this tendency to centralise all power. Political power is best practiced close to the individual on the community level, where it is recognisable to ordinary people.

I love my brothers in the UK, NZ and Canada, which is why I want us to preserve and enhance our independence.

I respect that decision. My guess for why people support it would because a union gives them power and leverage that they would not have on their own. The first video talked about how it benefited Cambodia when it joined ASEAN.

I don't want power, I want liberty and a government on a scale recognisable to its citizens.

Sort of like the power and leverage we just flushed down the bog except not on our doorstep?

Yeah, sort of like that power but in this case I guess the UK would be at the head of the table.

You mean we could keep our Sovereignty and have a veto on anything we didn't like?
    Just like our EU membership.

I dunno, you would have to talk to the Canadians, Aussie and Kiwis about it. The Canadians are extremely polite so they probably won't care. I heard the Aussie and Kiwis are a bit more rowdy but buy them a few beers and you never know.

So, join a smaller Union, with less power and influence with nations we don't actually trade with much compared to our near neighbours?

If some information that I ran into over these last two weeks turns out to be accurate......
the USA will definitely be at the head of the table.......

If some of the rumours turn out to have some validity............Canada's P. M. seems to perhaps have been a rather bad, bad young man....... so bad that there will be consequences!!!????

    http://www.politicalforum.com/index...ns-troubles-p-m-justin-trudeaus-fault.584062/

Are many of Joe Biden's troubles P. M. Justin Trudeau's fault?

The Israelis are the key..... pro-Israel sentiment is high in Canada, Australia, New Zealand as well as in the USA.......

Can Israel pull the entire world economy out of a possible Bear Market, another 1929?

President Trump may well feel more welcomed in Israel.... than he does in America......?????

But we will know for sure by around April 2..... if what I read recently turns out to have some validity?

I think the US is too big to join that union and in many ways too different. The US values its sovereignty too much and would not want other countries have any say. At best you would become a handful of states that would probably lean blue on the political spectrum.
